Fairbanks gave up a hit and struck out one batter in his inning of work. The right-hander now has a 3.11 ERA with a 1.19 WHIP. The Rays traded away ace set-up man Jason Adam on Sunday, so Fairbanks appears to have the closer role all to himself the rest of the way. He should be counted on as a good source of saves for the remainder of the season.
