Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Kevin Gausman earned a win Saturday over the Texas Rangers, in a 7-3 complete-game performance. The veteran gave up three runs on four hits, walking three and notching eight strikeouts. Gausman moves to 9-8 on the season, with a 4.44 ERA, a 1.26 WHIP, and 117 strikeouts in 199 innings. The right-hander has earned three consecutive wins over his last three starts, pitching into the seventh inning in all three outings. The Blue Jays will look to Gausman to continue his winning ways in his next start against the New York Yankees next Friday.
Toronto Blue Jays starter Kevin Gausman earned a win and a quality start on Thursday in a 5-3 victory over the San Francisco Giants. Gausman struck out three while scattering six hits and two runs over seven innings. The veteran moves to 7-8 on the season, with a 4.50 ERA, a 1.31 WHIP, and 104 strikeouts in 104 innings. With the team scuffling at 43-50, the Blue Jays could look to move Gausman in the weeks leading up to the trade deadline, and solid performances like this will help build his trade value.
Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Kevin Gausman has been slightly off this year after admitting that he probably should have started the year on the injured list in order to build his arm up properly due to a shortened spring training. Gausman tweaked his delivery going into his start on Friday against the Seattle Mariners and was happy with the results. He tried to be more "hunched over" on the mound, allowing him to lower his arm angle. One immediate result was better fastball control, and it also clocked at 1.4 mph harder than his 2024 average. Gausman had also been getting too much horizontal movement on his splitter and not enough vertical movement. He allowed two runs over six innings with 10 K's on Friday to lower his season ERA to 4.64, and he should be able to continue lowering his ERA by season's end if he stays on this path.
Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Kevin Gausman (6-8) was outdueled Friday night by Luis Castillo and the Seattle Mariners in a 2-1 loss. Despite the quality start, Gausman picked up the loss allowing two runs on six hits and two walks with 10 strikeouts. Hopefully, this is a sign that as the temperature heats so will Gausman. It's been an uncharacteristic year for the veteran right-hander with a 4.64 ERA and 1.34 WHIP on the season. The 33-year-old is on pace for his worst season since he put up a 5.72 ERA in the 2019 season. Gausman is now rostered in 95% of fantasy leagues which means there are fantasy managers out there who have lost patience with the former all-star ace. If you're in one of those leagues where Gausman is on the waiver wire go add him now! His next start is projected against a mediocre San Francisco Giants and if he has the second half that reflects any of the past couple of years he's put up it could be a move that could be reap league-winning rewards.
Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Kevin Gausman was unable to find much success on the mound during Sunday's game against the New York Yankees. The right-hander allowed seven runs on seven hits while walking five batters over 4 1/3 innings in the loss. The 33-year-old has not looked like himself this season as he struggled once again on Sunday. The lone bright spot was he did strike out seven batters in this start. We'll see if he can get it back on track during the second half of the season.
