New York Yankees outfield prospect Jasson Dominguez (oblique) took live batting practice in Tampa on Monday and is traveling to join Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Wednesday to resume playing in games "within a week," according to manager Aaron Boone. The Yankees' top prospect, per MLB Pipeline, Dominguez is ahead of schedule in his return from a left-oblique strain that he suffered in mid-June, although the Bombers aren't going to rush the 21-year-old back. He was already rehabbing from right-elbow surgery earlier this season before injuring his oblique, and there's no guarantee that the Martian will head to the big leagues at the end of his rehab assignment. But when Dominguez does return to the Bronx, he will be an immediate contributor in all fantasy leagues. The Dominican outfielder has hit .356/.404/.609 with a 1.014 OPS, six homers and 13 RBI in 23 minor-league games in 2024.
New York Yankees outfield prospect Jasson Dominguez (oblique) is still on the mend from an injury suffered about a month ago. Yankees manager Aaron Boone initially announced an eight-week timetable for the slugger with his right oblique injury and speaking last week, Boone said Dominguez still has a ways to go before returning. The 21-year-old has impressed at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre when healthy this season, hitting .389 in nine games. But it has been mostly a lost season for the Dominican due to various injuries. He could push for a promotion late in the season once healthy and remains a big part of the Yankees' future plans.
New York Yankees outfielder Jasson Dominguez (oblique) is at the club's complex in Tampa Bay but has been limited in his activities, manager Aaron Boone said before Tuesday's series opener against the division-rival Tampa Bay Rays. Boone relayed that Dominguez's workload is "not much of anything yet" and that he "still has got a ways to go there." Barring a significant injury to a member of New York's outfield, it's beginning to sound like Dominguez isn't going to be much of a factor in the 2024 regular season. The 21-year-old top prospect is recuperating from a significant left oblique strain and probably won't be available to the Yankees until sometime in September after an eventual minor-league rehab assignment, so fantasy managers in redraft leagues without many stash spots might want to consider cutting bait at this point.
New York Yankees outfield prospect Jasson Dominguez (oblique) will miss up to eight weeks with what manager Aaron Boone is now calling a significant oblique strain. It's a tough break for the Yankees, Dominguez and fantasy managers that have been stashing the team's top prospect all year in single-season formats with hopes that he'd take over as New York's primary center fielder by the second half of the season. The 21-year-old recently finished his rehab assignment while recovering from Tommy John surgery last year, but then he suffered a serious oblique injury while playing for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. With another significant injury setback, there's now a chance we won't see Dominguez at all in 2024 until perhaps the tail end of the year.
New York Yankees outfield prospect Jasson Dominguez (elbow) will continue his rehab assignment at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre after playing the last 10 games at Double-A Somerset. During his 10-game run at Double-A, the 21-year-old hit .316 (12-for-38) with four home runs, eight RBI, eight runs scored, and a stolen base. He also had a successful four-game stretch at Single-A where he went 5-for-13 (.385). Unfortunately for fantasy managers that have been stashing the switch-hitter, Dominguez will likely stay at Triple-A once he is eligible to come off the injured list, as the Yankees outfield is crowded right now and they do not currently need him with New York owning the best winning percentage in baseball. Regardless, he should continue to be stashed in all formats, as he'll be a multi-category producer whenever he does get the call.
