St. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Erick Fedde capped off his comeback season in dominant fashion in Wednesday's 5-2 victory over the Rockies, scattering six hits and one walk across seven innings while striking out 10 batters on the way to earning his ninth win of the 2024 campaign. With the Cardinals eliminated from playoff contention, Fedde finishes the season with a 9-9 record between Chicago and St. Louis, posting career-bests in ERA (3.38; 4.29 SIERA), WHIP (1.17), opponent batting average (.229), and total strikeouts (144). Fedde spent 2023 in the KBO with positive results, parlaying that success into a strong 2024 MLB season. The 31-year-old will look to keep rolling next season and should begin the year with a much more formidable offense behind him than he did when he began 2024 with the White Sox.
St. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Erick Fedde bounced back in the second start for his new team, picking up the win in a 5-2 victory over the Rays. Fedde went five innings, allowing one run on four hits and two walks while striking out six. The recently acquired righty gave up five earned runs in his debut appearance with the Cardinals, so this performance was a welcome sight. The 31-year-old has been mostly solid this season, posting an 8-5 record with a 3.28 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, and 118 strikeouts in 131 2/3 innings pitched. He'll get Cincinnati on the road in his next start this coming Tuesday.
St. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Erick Fedde was lit up for five ER in five innings and was credited with the loss as the Cardinals fell to the Chicago Cubs 6-3 on Friday afternoon. Fedde, who was acquired at the deadline by the Cardinals, allowed two HR on six hits while falling to 7-5 on the season. It's the third time this season Fedde has allowed five ER and his ERA now sits at 3.34 on the season. The 31-year-old is in the midst of a career year, but fantasy managers should be aware that negative regression will likely continue to come for Fedde as his 3.34 ERA is paired with a 3.79 xERA. Fantasy managers shouldn't hesitate to keep him in their starting lineups, but expectations may need to be tempered going forward. He'll get another chance to stave off negative regression and pick up his first Cardinals win on Wednesday when St. Louis hosts on the Tampa Bay Rays.
The St. Louis Cardinals acquired pitcher Erick Fedde on Monday as part of a three-team trade with the Chicago White Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers. Fedde is enjoying a strong campaign after spending the 2023 season playing in the Korean Baseball Organization (KBO) and winning the KBO equivalent of the Cy Young award. The right-hander currently owns a 3.11 ERA and 108 strikeouts across 121 2/3 innings pitched this season. St. Louis was in need of a starting pitcher at this year's deadline, and they acquired one of the top available pitchers. Utility specialist Tommy Edman goes to the Dodgers in this trade.
The St. Louis Cardinals are pushing toward acquiring Chicago White Sox right-handed starter Erick Fedde, according to Jon Heyman of the New York Post. Heyman reports there is nothing definitive on a deal, however. Fedde is 7-4 with a 3.11 ERA and 1.14 WHIP in a resurgent year for the White Sox this season. The 31-year-old would be a nice addition to any starting rotation, and the Cardinals would give Fedde an opportunity for more wins playing on a better team. It would be a win for both the Cardinals, and Fedde's fantasy managers should this move go through.
