Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Brayan Bello fired eight shutout innings in Wednesday night's victory over the visiting division-rival Toronto Blue Jays at Fenway Park, striking out nine hitters in the win. Bello was outstanding against Toronto on Wednesday, scattering two hits and one walk as he cruised to his 12th win of the season. In his last six starts, the 25-year-old right-hander is 2-1 with a 2.97 ERA, 35 strikeouts, and 16 walks in 36 1/3 frames for the Red Sox.
Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Brayan Bello spun six innings of one-run ball in Saturday's 5-1 victory over the Orioles, allowing two hits and three walks while striking out six on his way to picking up his 11th win of the season. It was Bello's third quality start in his last four outings and ninth overall in 23 starts. The 25-year-old is now 11-5 with a 4.80 ERA (3.75 xFIP), 1.41 WHIP, and a 13.5% K-BB%. He'll get the Diamondbacks at home in his next turn through the rotation.
The Boston Red Sox reinstated right-hander Brayan Bello from the paternity list on Monday and placed left-hander James Paxton (calf) on the 15-day injured list in a corresponding move with a right-calf strain that he suffered during his start on Sunday against the Houston Astros. Bello was away from the team over the weekend for their series against the visiting Astros, but he will return to start the week and will make the start at Fenway Park against the visiting Texas Rangers. Overall, it's been a bit of a disappointing year for the 25-year-old, who was a popular fantasy breakout candidate in spring training. However, he's looked better in four starts since the All-Star break, giving up 11 earned runs while striking out 24 and walking eight in 22 innings pitched. The Dominican hurler still has an ERA north of 5.00 on the season to go along with a 1.45 WHIP in 111 2/3 frames.
Boston Red Sox right-hander Brayan Bello capitalized on a juicy matchup on Tuesday night, picking up his ninth win of the season in a 12-9 victory over the visiting Oakland Athletics. Bello did allow five earned runs on nine hits (one home run), but he walked only two and struck out a season-high 11 batters. He now has 18 strikeouts in 12 innings over his last two starts against the A's and Miami Marlins, but he's also allowed under four earned runs just twice in his last seven starts, dating back to June 2. The Dominican hurler was projected for a breakout season in 2024 by many, but he's currently sporting a 5.40 ERA (4.44 FIP) and 1.49 WHIP with 82 strikeouts and 32 walks. Bello does have a career-high 22.1% strikeout rate in his third big-league campaign, but he'll be a pretty shaky fantasy option in his final start before the All-Star break against the Kansas City Royals this weekend.
Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Brayan Bello struck out seven batters over 6 1/3 innings in his eighth win against the hosting Miami Marlins on Wednesday night. After having his start pushed back by a few days, Bello responded with a brilliant performance on Wednesday in a favorable spot against the last-place Marlins. The 25-year-old right-hander has put together an up-and-down campaign for the Red Sox in 2024, compiling a 5.19 ERA, 1.45 WHIP, and 71:30 K:BB across 78 innings (15 starts) from Boston's rotation. With that said, Bello should still be rostered in the majority of fantasy leagues with another advantageous draw coming in his next projected start on Tuesday against the last-place Oakland Athletics at Fenway Park.
