Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Aaron Nola looked outstanding during Tuesday's game against the New York Mets. The right-hander struck out eight batters as he tossed a complete game in an 109-pitch outing. The Mets started to get something going with the bats in the ninth, but Nola was able to work around the base runners. This shutout by Nola is now the fifth one thrown in the league this season. He'll take his 3-2 record and 3.10 ERA into his next outing.
Philadelphia Phillies starter Aaron Nola allowed two runs on four hits across eight innings of work during Sunday's 8-2 win over the Chicago White Sox. He struck out seven batters while walking one. It was an impressive outing for the 30-year-old as the only damage against him came off of an Eloy Jimenez blast in the first inning. Nola has now allowed two runs or fewer in four straight appearances after a shaky outing to kick off the campaign. He brings a 3-1 record, 3.16 ERA and 26/10 K/BB into his next projected start against the San Diego Padres. Nola is a must-start fantasy option while he is rolling like this.
Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Aaron Nola turned in a great start but came away with a no-decision in Monday's 2-1 extra-inning win over the Rockies. Nola pitched 7 1/3 innings, allowing one run on four hits (including a solo home run) and a walk with nine strikeouts. The 30-year-old has now turned in three consecutive solid starts after a rough first start, bringing his record to 2-1 with a 3.47 ERA, a 7.33 K/9 rate, and a 3.47 BB/9 rate. He should have an excellent chance to extend his streak in his next scheduled start against the White Sox.
Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Aaron Nola looks to jump-start his season when he squares off with the St. Louis Cardinals and veteran right-hander Lance Lynn in Wednesday's road start. After getting knocked around for 11 hits and six earned runs in his first start of the year versus the vaunted Atlanta Braves offense, Nola launched 5 2/3 innings of two-hit ball for a win during his last time out against the division-rival Washington Nationals. The 30-year-old All-Star right-hander has enjoyed plenty of success against St. Louis in the past, as his 2.50 ERA and 0.80 WHIP over 11 career starts versus the Cards both represent his best marks against any National League team. Most recently, Nola is 2-1 with a 2.67 ERA and 34 strikeouts in five appearances (23 2/3 IP) against the Redbirds since 2021. Start him with confidence on Wednesday.
Philadelphia Phillies right-hander Aaron Nola will be looking to bounce back in his second start of the season Friday versus the Washington Nationals. The veteran was shelled for seven earned runs on a whopping 12 hits, including two homers, with one walk against just three strikeouts across 4 1/3 innings in his season debut against the Braves on March 30. Of course, a matchup with the high-octane Braves is a tough one to begin the season as Nola sees a far better matchup on Friday. He'll take on a Nationals team that ranked 21st with a .309 wOBA last season but their 18.9% K% was the second-lowest in all of baseball. At the same time, the Nats have struck out in an elevated 24.3% of their plate appearances on the young 2024 season.
