3 You’re Too High On in 2024 Fantasy Football (8/26)

Share

Our fantasy football rankers are some of the best in the business, but that doesn’t mean they always agree. Twice a week, our rankers will highlight some names they are furthest from the staff consensus fantasy rankings on and explain why you should either be targeting those players or steering clear in your 2024 drafts.

3 You’re Too High On for 2024

Jameson Williams, WR, Detroit Lions

FTN staff rankling: WR51
My ranking: WR55

I know there has been a lot of hype surrounding Williams this season, especially from the Lions themselves. And the opportunity is certainly there for him. Entering year three, Williams has had his first normal offseason as a professional this summer. However, I still view him as more of a boom/bust flex option in most formats, while his best ball ADP is simply way too high. Currently on Underdog, Williams is being drafted as the WR46, ahead of players like DeAndre Hopkins, Courtland Sutton, Curtis Samuel, Tyler Lockett, Rashid Shaheed and Joshua Palmer. There’s no way I’d take him over those wideouts, despite the fact that he plays in the best offense. From Week 5 on last year, Williams posted just a 10% target share, drawing a target on just 15% of his routes. Sure, Josh Reynolds is now gone, but William still projects as the fourth option in this offense. He’ll have some spike weeks, but I think we’re a bit too excited about his potential of being a weekly fantasy starter.
