Zach Charbonnet Efficient In Backup Role

Seattle Seahawks running back Zach Charbonnet had his most productive game in weeks in Sunday's win over the Arizona Cardinals. The rookie took five rushing attempts 32 yards and caught both of his targets for 28 receiving yards. His receptions late in the fourth quarter advanced the Seahawks into Cardinals' territory, setting up Geno Smith's 34-yard touchdown pass to Tyler Lockett. The selection of Charbonnet in the second round of the 2023 draft sparked a debate that he might contend for the starting role but he was firmly in the backseat behind second-year running back Kenneth Walker III. It will be hard to predict what the depth chart will look like in 2024, but Charbonnet can be expected to hang on to his role as the passing down back at the least. Charbonnet's first season ends with 462 rushing yards and one touchdown gained on 108 carries and 209 receiving yards on 33 catches.

Zach Charbonnet Finishing Season In Backup Role

Seattle Seahawks running back Zach Charbonnet will finish out the season working behind Kenneth Walker III (shoulder) in Week 18. Despite dealing with a shoulder injury that limited his ability to practice this week, Walker is off the team's injury report and ready to start against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. Charbonnet has been featured in passing down situations and inside the two-minute warning, but if past usage holds then it will be Walker who sees the lion's share of the running back touches. Last week against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Charbonnet caught all five of his targets for 39 yards. The Cardinals have given up the most fantasy points per game to running backs and have allowed eight receiving touchdowns to the position this season. Fantasy managers in a Week 18 championship should avoid Charbonnet, while DFS players could take a chance on him and hope his workload in the passing game leads to a touchdown.

Zach Charbonnet Sees More Touches Against Steelers

Seattle Seahawks running back Zach Charbonnet had two carries for two rushing yards and caught all five of his targets for 39 receiving yards in Sunday's loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. His seven touches were the most he has had since Week 14 when he was offering relief to Kenneth Walker III (shoulder) who was still on the mend from an oblique injury. Charbonnet benefitted from similar circumstances in Week 17. Walker was a game-time decision due to a shoulder injury that limited his participation in practice all week. Walker looked effective during the game but reaggravated the injury in the third quarter. By the time he was deemed available to return to play, the Seahawks were playing catch-up necessitating that Charbonnet stay on the field. The rookie could see extra work in Week 18 if Walker's shoulder is still bothering him, and if the Seahawks would rather not risk his health at all then Charbonnet would once again operate as the team's featured back.
