White Sox Demote Oscar Colas

The Chicago White Sox demoted outfield prospect Oscar Colas to Triple-A Charlotte on Sunday. Colas, 25, continues to operate between Charlotte and Chicago this season, but has gotten limited playing time when in the big leagues. Colas has always shown good power, but has yet to figure it out against big-league pitching. With the White Sox rostering one of the weakest rosters in the game and rostering the fragile Eloy Jimenez, Colas should get another chance at playing time as the summer goes on. He can safely remain on the waiver wire in all formats.

Oscar Colas Called Up Saturday, Andrew Benintendi Likely IL Bound

Chicago White Sox outfielder Oscar Colas was called up to the big league roster on Saturday. Andrew Benintendi (Achilles) is expected to be placed on the injured list in a corresponding move. The 25-year-old is slashing .244/.358/.406 with five home runs, 21 RBI, 25 runs, and six stolen bases over 46 games for Triple-Charlotte last year. He does have fantasy upside after slashing .314/.371/.524 in 526 plate appearances between High-A Winston-Salem, Double-A Birmingham, and Triple-A Charlotte in 2022. Colas has a path to everyday playing time and is worth adding to deep-league formats.

Oscar Colas Optioned To Triple-A

After just recently being called up by the Chicago White Sox, outfielder Oscar Colas was optioned back to Triple-A Charlotte on Thursday. Colas was with the White Sox for one game and was hitless in his pinch-hitting appearance. The move to send the 25-year-old back down to the farm after he was just brought up on Wednesday is a sign that outfielder Eloy Jimenez (groin) could come off the injured list this weekend after missing some time with a left-groin strain. Even if Jimenez comes back this weekend, veterans Robbie Grossman and Kevin Pillar should see more playing time with Luis Robert Jr. (hip) out for a while. Colas hit just .216 (53-for-245) with five home runs, 19 RBI and four steals in 75 games in his MLB in 2023. We'll likely see him back in the big leagues as outfield depth again in 2024.
