The 32-year-old allowed just one earned run on six hits and no walks while striking out a season-high 10 batters, picking up his fourth win of the season. It was the veteran's third straight quality start, lowering his ERA to 2.90 (3.82 FIP, 4.29 SIERA) with a 1.27 WHIP and 12.8 K-BB% on the season. We'll see how long he can keep it up as the righty owns a 3.93 career ERA, but it seems limiting the long ball has been key to his success this season as he currently sports a career-low 8.6% HR/FB%, down from 13.4% last season. Taillon will face the Giants on the road next Thursday in his next turn through the rotation.

The veteran entered the contest having allowed three runs over his first four contests, but allowed seven runs (two earned) over four innings. He also gave up seven hits with three walks and two strikeouts. Taillon did not help himself out with his own error and allowing seven hits and three walks is never a positive sign. Overall, Taillon is now 3-1 with a 1.61 ERA heading into Sunday's contest versus the Pittsburgh Pirates. Taillon is worth streaming in favorable matchups, but should not be rostered outside of the deepest leagues.

He was also potentially going to start Sunday's series finale against the Pittsburgh Pirates, but he needed a few more days to get right. Taillon has pitched great when healthy in 2024, as he owns a 3-0 record to go along with a sparkling 1.13 ERA and 0.88 WHIP through four starts. He is locked into a rotation spot for the Cubs and can be treated as a top-70 starting pitcher for the remainder of the season.
