San Diego Padres outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr. (quadriceps) told reporters on Monday that he knows he'll be out well past the All-Star break in mid-July. Tatis didn't get into an exact timetable, but fantasy managers are going to need to be patient here after he was placed on the 10-day injured list on Monday with a right femoral stress reaction in his quadriceps muscle. It's a tough break for fantasy managers and the Padres, as the 25-year-old outfielder has been strong offensively again in 2024 with a .279/.354/.468 slash line with 14 home runs, 36 RBI and an .822 OPS in 345 plate appearances. He needs to remain stashed in an IL spot in all fantasy formats. Bryce Johnson got the start in Monday's extra-inning win over the Washington Nationals after being called up from the minors, but David Peralta and Jose Azocar could also be involved in right field moving forward with Tatis sidelined.

San Diego Padres outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr. (quadriceps) has been placed on the 10-day injured list ahead of Monday's game. This is a tough loss for the Padres, who are already dealing with multiple injuries. Manager Mike Shildt said that Tatis is dealing with a slight stress reaction in his quad. The team hasn't given a timetable for Tatis' return, but he'll likely miss multiple weeks of action. In a corresponding move, Bryce Johnson has been recalled from the minors. With Tatis out, the Padres figure to use some combination of David Peralta and Jose Azocar in right field, with Peralta on the strong side of a platoon against right-handed pitching.

San Diego Padres outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr. (triceps, quad), who exited Friday's game after being hit on the left elbow, was available in Sunday afternoon's game against the visiting San Diego Padres in the right situation, manager Mike Shildt said. Tatis remains day-to-day with the elbow and the quad injury he's been playing through. It sounds like the Padres and fantasy managers should have a good chance of getting Tatis back into their lineups for Monday's series opener against the Washington Nationals in San Diego, but considering he's banged up with multiple issues at the moment, there's always a chance he could sit out another game or so to recuperate. There's more apparent concern about the 25-year-old superstar's quad problem, which has lingered for most of the year.
