Los Angeles Chargers tight end Stone Smartt made three catches on three targets in a Week 16 win over the Denver Broncos on Thursday Night Football. Smartt got another start with Will Dissly (shoulder) still unavailable. The Bolts did activate tight end Hayden Hurst before this game, but Smartt was still the clear starter at the position. With his three catches, Smartt gained 37 yards with a long gain of 19. He's been a solid contributor since joining the starting lineup and should continue as a solid TE2 option as long as Dissly remains out.

With a quick turnaround ahead of Thursday Night Football coming up in Week 16, Smartt is expected to once again get the start at tight end and could have a similar game, putting him on the TE1/2 border.

More importantly, it was clear that the Chargers had faith in him as a pass catcher on critical plays. This week, he gets a nice soft landing against a Bucs defense that has allowed the second-most receiving yards to opposing tight ends. Smartt was one of the more popular waiver wire grabs this week, and he finds himself near the top of TE2 rankings with some nice touchdown upside.
