New Orleans Saints wide receiver Rashid Shaheed led the team with 86 receiving yards in their 26-13 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday night. He caught four balls on his team-high nine targets. The highlight of Shaheed's night was a 43-yard touchdown catch in the second quarter, his third trip to the end zone so far this year. Quarterback Derek Carr (oblique) seemed to have it in mind to use his deep threat to his fullest potential as Shaheed had six targets of 20 or more yards and three of his catches went for at least 15 yards. Shaheed now leads New Orleans with 338 receiving yards on the season though that's not to say he has supplanted Chris Olave as the primary receiving option. Shaheed gets a great matchup in Week 6 against a Buccaneers defense that gave up 12 catches for 154 yards and a touchdown to Darnell Mooney. His success will rest on Carr's availability, who left Monday's game in the fourth quarter with an injury.

The New Orleans Saints' tendency to run 12 personnel concentrates their passing attack on wide receivers Rashid Shaheed and Chris Olave. Shaheed owns a 25.5% target share as a result and, leaving out the egg he laid in Week 3, he is averaging 18.3 PPR points per game in 2024. In Week 5, the Saints head to Kansas City to face the Chiefs on Monday night. The Chiefs have done well to limit opposing wide receivers' production in 2024, holding them collectively to 113 yards per game. Still, Shaheed has shown several times over that his ability to break a big play and the Saints will likely need to look to him again to have a shot at getting past Kansas City. There may be additional work for him as the other main weapons in the Saints' offense, Olave (hamstring) and Alvin Kamara (hip/ribs) both popped up on the team's injury report this week. Shaheed's long touchdown potential keeps him in the WR3 range for Week 5 and he can have a slight boost in value in leagues that award points for return yards.

New Orleans Saints wide receiver Rashid Shaheed's day got off to a terrible start when he muffed a punt inside his own five-yard line less than four minutes into their Week 4 game against the Atlanta Falcons. Atlanta pounced on the ball in the end zone for a touchdown, putting the Saints in an early hole. That did not deter the team from turning to Shaheed thereafter. In Week 4, he saw a career-high 11 targets which led the team and resulted in eight catches (also a career-high) for 83 yards. He also handled two rushing attempts for 14 yards on the ground. Derek Carr looked Shaheed's way twice in the end zone late in the fourth quarter but both times delivered uncatchable balls. In Week 5, the Saints take on the Kansas City Chiefs whose lack of success in zone coverage might lead to more positive results for Shaheed, as long as he can avoid further miscues.

Week 3 was an absolute dud, though, as he came up empty on his five targets against the Eagles. In Week 4, the Saints head to Atlanta to take on the Falcons in an NFC South matchup. The Falcons are allowing just 6.04 yards per pass attempt and have given up the fewest deep balls to opposing wide receivers in the league, which does not bode well for Shaheed. Furthermore, Shaheed usually thrives against zone defenses but Atlanta's ranks in the top 10 so far this year. Shaheed's prospects may get a boost depending on the health of fellow wideout Chris Olave (hamstring) who left Friday's practice early and is now listed as questionable. Shaheed would benefit from an uptick in targets if Olave is absent, but otherwise should not be counted on for a boom game in Week 4.

Wide receiver Rashid Shaheed had five targets in the New Orleans Saints' 15-12 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 3. Unfortunately, he finished the game without a single reception to the dismay of fantasy managers (not to mention Saints fans) who were expecting another big game against a secondary that has looked vulnerable in the young season. The explosive receiver, who caught a touchdown in each of the first two games in 2024, was in line for another score on two occasions in the game. On the first attempt, Derek Carr underthrew Shaheed, forcing him to turn back into his defender just to get a hand on the ball. Then in the fourth quarter, Darius Slay was in the right place at the right time to disrupt what would have been a 25-yard score. Shaheed and the Saints will try to get back to their high-scoring ways against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 4.
