Baltimore Ravens running back Owen Wright (foot) was carted off the field during Saturday's preseason finale against the Green Bay Packers. It has been announced that Wright broke his foot during the second quarter of this contest. This is a shame considering Wright was the favorite for the third string spot in the Ravens backfield. Derrick Henry will see the bulk of the carries with Justice Hill getting mixed in as the change-of-pace back. Now, Rasheen Ali could slide into the third string spot with Wright expected to miss significant time. There's unlikely to be much fantasy value for anyone behind Henry and Hill in this backfield.
Baltimore Ravens running back Owen Wright scored his first touchdown of the preseason on Saturday during the 13-12 win over the Atlanta Falcons. The Monmouth product didn't register an efficient ground game with just nine yards on eight carries, but he was able to haul in his lone target for a six-yard touchdown. The throw came from veteran Josh Johnson who found Wright for a dump-off on the far side of the field. Wright was able to extend while getting hit and find the pylon for the touchdown. Right now, with Rasheen Ali (undisclosed) still sidelined, Wright is trying to make a case to be the fourth-string back once Keaton Mitchell (knee) returns.
Baltimore Ravens running back Owen Wright put together the most efficient game on the ground out of the team's backfield that played on Friday. In the 16-13 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, Wright posted 33 yards on seven carries and one catch for 17 yards on three targets. The Ravens' offense as a whole didn't move the ball all that much as they ran for 82 yards total and hit the same exact mark through the air. Wright had a couple of explosive plays with his 17-yard catch-and-run, and a 12-yard gain on the ground. He finished second in total touches to the rookie Rasheen Ali. At this stage, it seems there's a competition for third-string back until Keaton Mitchell is healthy enough to play.
