Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts (finger) doesn't have an injury designation ahead of Monday's Wild-Card contest against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The star signal-caller exited early during the regular season finale due to a dislocated middle finger. He was limited in practice to start the week but was able to get in back-to-back full practice sessions to close out the practice week. It doesn't sound like Hurts is going to be limited at all during Monday's contest. He'll be without star wideout A.J. Brown (knee) for this game. That means DeVonta Smith, Julio Jones, and Dallas Goedert will need to step up in the receiving game. Hurts will be a high-priced, but solid DFS option for this weekend's slate.
Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts will go on the road to take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday during the first week of the NFL playoffs. The 25-year-old did suffer a finger injury during last week's loss to the New York Giants that looked pretty gruesome, but he was a full participant in practice on Friday and was throwing the ball. Hurts had a rough five-week stretch to end the season but salvaged a few games due to scoring rushing touchdowns. With that said, he now has to go on the road to take on a Tampa Bay defense that has been a favorable matchup for quarterbacks this past regular season. The only issue is the potential loss of star receiver A.J. Brown (knee), who has yet to return to practice. Due to his high price point, Hurts is a risky option in DFS.
Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts (finger) was a full participant in practice on Friday, a day after he was limited on Thursday. Hurts dislocated the middle finger on his throwing hand in the Week 18 loss to the New York Giants, but X-rays came back negative and the 25-year-old should be good to go for Monday night's wild-card playoff game in Tampa against the Buccaneers. Hurts' return to a full practice should ease anyone's concerns that he might not have been ready to play this weekend, but he could still be somewhat compromised with his throwing on Monday night. Add in the fact that top wideout A.J. Brown (knee) is looking questionable to play, and the QB2 in fantasy during the regular season is looking a bit shaky as a high-priced QB option in DFS for the wild-card slate.
Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts (finger) did not throw the ball much at all, if at all, during the team's practice on Thursday, according to a source. It's a tough injury for Hurts, who dislocated the middle finger on his right throwing hand in the Week 18 loss to the New York Giants. Hopefully he will be able to throw more before heading to Tampa on Sunday to prepare to face the Buccaneers in the wild-card playoff game on Monday night. The 25-year-old was the QB2 in overall fantasy points during the regular season, behind only Josh Allen, but he's trending toward being a pretty shaky DFS play during wild-card weekend, especially at such a high price point. On top of Hurts' own injury, his top two wideouts -- A.J. Brown (knee) and DeVonta Smith (ankle) -- are also beat up and could be playing at less than 100 percent.
Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts (finger) was present at Thursday's practice and was wearing a glove on his injured throwing hand. Hurts suffered a grotesque dislocation of the middle finger on his right hand in the Week 18 regular season finale loss to the New York Giants but returned to the game. But X-rays were negative for any fractures, and the 25-year-old is expected to play on Monday for the wild-card playoff game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Hurts was a high-end QB1 for fantasy managers again in 2023, although he carries plenty of bust potential into the first round of the playoffs because of his finger injury and with injuries to his top two wideouts in A.J. Brown (knee) and DeVonta Smith (ankle). Hurts is the second-most expensive fantasy signal-caller on DraftKings, behind only Josh Allen. UPDATE: Hurts was officially limited Thursday.
