Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith (hamstring) is back at practice on Thursday after missing Wednesday's practice with a hamstring injury. This is great news for his fantasy managers, but his status should continue to be monitored on Friday and up to Sunday. Smith has posted at least 900 receiving yards in each of his first three NFL seasons, but he is a "boom-or-bust" fantasy option in most matchups while sharing a field with A.J. Brown (knee) and Dallas Goedert (hamstring). Assuming all three pass-catchers are active in Week 10 against the Dallas Cowboys, Smith is a solid WR2 or WR3 play with upside, but he has a low floor due to his boom-or-bust nature.UPDATE: Smith was limited in his return on Thursday.
Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith (hamstring) did not practice on Wednesday. Since Smith showed no signs of the injury during the Eagles' Week 9 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, the severity of the injury is currently unknown. Smith has started to heat up over the last couple of weeks. He has scored a touchdown and reached at least 85 receiving yards in each of the last two weeks. With fellow wide receiver A.J. Brown (knee) also limited on Wednesday, the Eagles will have to hope that they will have both of their star wide receivers available in Week 10. Smith checks into Week 10 as the WR17 in PPR formats. He has reached that number despite missing a game due to injury, recording one catch in another, and already having his bye. As such, he has been an excellent fantasy asset in 2024. This is a situation worth monitoring as soft tissue injuries tend to linger.
Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith caught four of six targets for 87 yards and scored in the team's 28-23 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. The former Heisman winner found the end zone for the second week in a row, making one of the year's best catches on a one-handed 25-yard grab in the back of the end zone in the fourth quarter. Smith was pivotal for the offense in the second half with A.J. Brown (knee) leaving early in the third quarter. The 25-year-old had a few rough outings after the Eagles Week 5 bye but has since gained 85 or more yards and has found the end zone in each game recently. Smith will be a set-it-and-forget-it WR2 again in Week 10 when Philadelphia takes on a banged-up Dallas team.
Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith will face off against the 2-6 Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 9. The former Heisman winner got back on track last week against the Cincinnati Bengals, catching six of seven targets for 85 yards and a score. Now, Smith gets to take on a Jacksonville defense that struggles to stop any position, but especially wide receivers. The Jaguars allow the fifth-most fantasy points per game to the position and will have their hands full stopping the duo of A.J. Brown and Smith. The 25-year-old is a must-start in Week 9.
Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith caught six of seven targets for 85 yards and a touchdown during the team's 37-17 win over the Cincinnati Bengals. After a week where the former Heisman winner posted -2 receiving yards against the New York Giants, Smith made up for it with a solid performance in which he led the team in receiving yards and caught the only passing touchdown of the day for the Eagles. Smith caught a 45-yard bomb to put the Eagles ahead of the Bengals 24 to 17 and they never looked back. A.J. Brown was right behind him in targets and yardage, but this was a game where running the ball in the red zone was incredibly successful, so there was just one passing touchdown to distribute. The Eagles receivers could have a big day next week against the lowly Jacksonville pass defense.
