Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeVante Parker announced his retirement on Monday evening. The 31-year-old, who signed with the Eagles in March, was once one of the NFL's most promising wideouts. He spent most of his career in Miami, where he had the best season of his career in 2019 by amassing 1,202 yards and nine touchdowns off 72 receptions. Parker spent a few more years in Miami before suiting up for the Patriots over the last two seasons. However, he was nowhere near as productive as he was in 2019, so New England released him. The 31-year-old will finish his NFL career by totaling 690 catches for 5,660 yards and 27 touchdowns.

The Philadelphia Eagles are signing veteran wide receiver DeVante Parker to a one-year, $4.96 fully guaranteed deal. Philly will pay just $1.2 million, and New England will cover the rest. Parker was released by the Patriots this week after two seasons with the organization. Since being selected in the first round of the 2015 NFL draft, Parker has posted just one season of at least 1,000 receiving yards. He has failed to post at least 700 yards in six of his nine NFL seasons with the Miami Dolphins and Patriots. In Philadelphia behind A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, Parker is unlikely to be on the fantasy radar, barring injury.

The New England Patriots informed wide receiver DeVante Parker that they are releasing him on Wednesday at the start of the new league year, and he has now been given permission to talk to other teams, according to his agent, Jimmy Gould. The Patriots still have JuJu Smith-Schuster, Kendrick Bourne and Demario Douglas as their starting wideouts, but expect them to look to add receiving help in free agency and the draft. The nine-year veteran can still offer a big-bodied downfield threat, but he's unlikely to become an interesting fantasy wideout, even though he's likely to land in a better situation in free agency.

His offensive struggles were the product of steady snow and wind that impacted the unit as a whole. Parker finishes the 2023 campaign with 33 catches, 394 receiving yards, and zero touchdowns. The veteran is under contract with New England for next season, but they could choose to move on from him if the coaching staff or front office endure sweeping changes.

New England Patriots wide receiver Tyquan Thornton (ankle) has officially been ruled out for the Week 18 regular season finale on Sunday against the New York Jets, while receivers DeVante Parker (ribs) and Matthew Slater (hamstring) will play. All three receivers were listed as questionable coming into this one. Thornton finishes his second season in the NFL with just 13 receptions for 91 yards and no touchdowns on 23 targets over nine games played. The 23-year-old second-rounder has been a bust so far, but New England's poor quarterback situation hasn't helped his development. Parker and rookie Demario Douglas should be New England's top targets to close out the year, but the matchup against a strong Jets secondary isn't the greatest for fantasy managers in single-year leagues and DFS contests.
