Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles said that rookie running back Bucky Irving has earned more offensive snaps going forward. Although primary back Rachaad White saw 74% of the offensive snaps to Irving's 32% in the Week 3 loss to the Denver Broncos, Irving was the better back, rushing nine times 70 yards while catching all three of his targets for 14 yards. Meanwhile, White had only six carries for a measly 17 yards on the ground. The 22-year-old Irving broke off a big 32-yard chunk gain on the ground and looked much more elusive and quick with the ball in his hands than White did. It's bad news for White's fantasy managers going forward, although it would be wise to try and pick Irving up off the waiver wire this week, as he could take over lead-back duties sooner than later. Irving is currently rostered in 35% of Yahoo fantasy leagues.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Bucky Irving put together a solid game on the ground during Sunday's contest against the Denver Broncos. The Bucs didn't have many bright spots in this game, but Irving was one of them. The rookie back rushed nine times for 70 yards while hauling in all three of his targets for 14 yards through the air. Fellow back Rachaad White continues to struggle on the ground, which could mean Irving starts taking a bigger chunk of the workload. Irving has earned more playing time, so we'll see if he gets it during next week's matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles. Fantasy managers should check the waiver wire and scoop up Irving where available.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Bucky Irving hasn't seen too big of a workload early in the season, but that could change in Week 3. Starting back Rachaad White (groin) has been limited in practice and remains uncertain for this weekend's matchup against the Denver Broncos. That being said, Irving could be asked to step into a bigger role. Through two games, Irving has rushed for 84 yards on 16 attempts, which is 5.3 yards per carry. He certainly has the ability to be a playmaker in the league, but has a limited ceiling with White being the lead back. That being said, Irving could make for an intriguing fantasy option if White is held out on Sunday. Irving could make for a low-end flex option or RB3 as the lead back. The rookie back should be stashed as the primary handcuff to White.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Bucky Irving struggled to get much going on the ground during the Week 2 matchup against the Detroit Lions. Irving came out strong in the season opener with 62 yards on nine attempts. He wasn't able to have the same success on Sunday with only 22 yards on seven carries in the win. It was a quiet game for the Bucs rushing attack as lead back Rachaad White finished with 18 yards on the ground. Irving should continue seeing around seven or eight touches a game, but it probably won't be enough to start him in fantasy formats. Although, Irving is worth stashing in most formats due to his upside.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Bucky Irving outperformed lead back Rachaad White during the season opener last week. The fourth-round rookie rushed nine times for 62 yards while hauling in two receptions for an additional 14 yards. It was a nice debut for Irving who could carve a bigger role for himself as the season goes on. However, White is expected to remain the workhorse back for now. If he continues to struggle then Irving could continue getting more carries. The Bucs head into a tougher matchup against the Detroit Lions in Week 2. A defense that allowed the second-fewest rushing yards in the league last season. Irving is worth stashing in deep and dynasty formats, but his usage is unknown right now which makes him a shaky fantasy option.
