Parris Campbell Sitting Out On Monday

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Parris Campbell (groin) will not practice on Monday at training camp due to a groin injury that also kept him sidelined on Sunday. It's unclear how serious Campbell's injury is, but any time missed or the 27-year-old could hurt his chances of winning the No. 3 receiver job in his first year with the team. A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith are the team's clear cut top two receivers, with Campbell battling it out with the likes of Britain Covey, rookies Johnny Wilson and Ainias Smith and John Ross for the No. 3 role. Campbell, a former second-rounder by the Indianapolis Colts in 2019 out of Ohio State, played in only 12 games for the Giants in 2023 and finished with 20 receptions for 104 yards and no touchdowns. He's currently off the fantasy radar in most leagues.

DeVonta Smith Having A Great Camp

According to Philadelphia Eagles receivers coach Aaron Moorehead, wideout DeVonta Smith has been solid during training camp. "He's had as good of a camp that he's had probably since I've been here with him," said Moorehead recently. "His confidence is through the roof and he's continuing just to master his craft. He's getting in that good part of his career that as long as he's doing the things he's doing, he's going to be hard to cover." The 25-year-old inked a three-year, $75 million contract extension this offseason after posting back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons and finding the end zone 14 times during that span. While the arrival of Saquon Barkley could jeopardize Smith's volume, there's no reason fantasy managers can't get another 1,000-yard campaign out of him in 2024-25.

Will Shipley Sees Work With First-Team Offense

Philadelphia Eagles rookie running back Will Shipley was getting some first-team red-zone work in training camp practice on Tuesday. For some context, Shipley also split first-team work with Kenneth Gainwell on Monday with primary back Saquon Barkley away from the team for personal reasons. Shipley, a fourth-rounder out of Clemson, is competing with Gainwell for the No. 2 job in Philly in 2024 in camp and the preseason. Gainwell obviously has much more experience than Shipley and familiarity in the Eagles' offense, but the 21-year-old Shipley has more immediate and long-term upside in deeper fantasy formats as a handcuff option for Barkley if he wins the No. 2 job. If Barkley were to miss time due to injury in his first year with the Eagles, Shipley would be a highly sought-after waiver-wire pickup in fantasy.

Parris Campbell Gets First Reps At WR3 With Starters

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Parris Campbell ran with the starting unit as the WR3 in Wednesday's practice. Philadelphia has been looking for some receiver depth, with their top two receivers set in A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith. The Eagles let Quez Watkins and Julio Jones loose in free agency and DeVante Parker also retired earlier this offseason. The team also drafted Johnny Wilson and Ainias Smith, so there is plenty of competition for the position, one that Campbell has a leg up on early in camp. The former Ohio State Buckeye has been a disappointment in his five seasons as a pro, but could find a home in Philadelphia if he can continue impressing in camp. Campbell shouldn't be drafted in most fantasy formats, but he's somebody to keep an eye onas an in-season add.

Kyle Philips Battling For Roster Spot

Tennessee Titans wide receiver Kyle Philips kicked off his NFL career in 2022 by leading the team in targets (nine) in his debut. However, he has since been either injured or unproductive. Overall, he's hauled in just 23 of his 35 targets for 259 yards in 13 career games. After the additions of wide receivers Calvin Ridley, Tyler Body, and sixth-round rookie Jha'Quan Jackson this offseason, Philips finds himself on the roster bubble, according to John Glennon of the Nashville Post. "Philips will head into training camp battling for a roster spot," Glennon wrote. "The 2022 fifth-round pick has to show the quick-separation ability that initially drew the Titans to him, and he'll have to earn his way into opportunities to return punts once again. Rookie Jha'Quan Jackson, a faster slot receiver with return abilities, will provide stiff competition." Whether Philips makes the roster or not, it would be surprising if he makes a fantasy football impact in 2024.
