New Orleans Saints wide receiver Chris Olave (concussion) was seen practicing again on Thursday, according to Sean Fazende of FOX8. Olave returned to practice on Wednesday in a limited capacity. This is a great sign to see the wideout back at practice, but he will need to pass concussion protocol before being able to return to game action. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor the 24-year-old's status on Friday, as he may carry an injury designation into the weekend. Olave has struggled with consistency this season and has eclipsed double-digit PPR points in three games but also fallen under 5.0 PPR points in the other three. However, if he suits up, he should be viewed as a solid WR2 while facing the Los Angeles Chargers.
New Orleans Saints tight ends Taysom Hill (rib) and Juwan Johnson (shoulder) were both limited participants during practice on Wednesday. On one hand, any sort of appearance on the injury report is worth monitoring as it means the player in question is less than 100 percent. However, fantasy managers should find some optimism in the fact that both Hill and Johnson were limited, which means they were able to get on the field in some capacity. With two more days until injury designations are released and four more days until the Saints battle the Los Angeles Chargers, there's plenty of time for Hill and Johnson to recover and get ready for game action. Assuming both suit up in Week 8, Hill would rank as a mid-to-low fantasy TE2 given his versatility and role. Meanwhile, Johnson slips to the TE3 tier.
New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr (oblique) did not participate in Wednesday's practice. The 33-year-old has been sidelined since Week 5 and is expected to miss his third consecutive game this Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers, according to head coach Dennis Allen. Specifically, Allen noted that Carr has resumed throwing, which is a step in the right direction, but he expects Spencer Rattler (hip) to get at least one more start in Week 8. The Saints' offensive production has declined with Rattler under center, and fantasy managers invested in players like Alvin Kamara (hand, rib) or Chris Olave (concussion) are anxiously awaiting Carr's return.
New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara (hand) revealed on Wednesday that he suffered a broken hand in the Week 5 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. That's also the same game that quarterback Derek Carr suffered an oblique injury that will cause him to miss a third straight game in Week 8 against the Los Angeles Chargers. Kamara has played the last two games with his hand injury, but the Saints offense has cratered with Carr out, and Kamara has 20 carries for 50 yards (2.50 yards per carry) and a touchdown on the ground during that span. Things won't get any easier for the 29-year-old, who ranks second behind Derrick Henry this year in overall fantasy points for RBs, going into a matchup this Sunday against the Chargers. Kamara has fallen to RB2 territory in fantasy.UPDATE: Kamara was listed as limited in Wednesday's practice with his hand injury, in addition to a rib ailment.
New Orleans Saints wide receiver Chris Olave (concussion) was at Wednesday's practice, according to Nick Underhill of the New Orleans Football Network. Olave was sidelined last week with a concussion. This is a great sign to see him return to practice, however, the 24-year-old will need to pass concussion protocol before he can officially return to game action. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status throughout the week. If Olave is able to return this weekend, he should be started in all formats as a WR2 facing a tough Los Angeles Chargers defense that has allowed the second-fewest PPR points to opposing wideouts. Rookie quarterback Spencer Rattler will make another start as well, which will make Olave more volatile.UPDATE: Olave was officially limited in Wednesday's practice.
