D.J. Chark Expected To Practice Next Week

Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver D.J. Chark (hip) has spent the first four weeks of the season on the PUP list and is expected to resume practicing ahead of Week 5 when the team is on its bye, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The Chargers' early bye week is convenient for Chark as it gives him extra time to practice while (potentially) missing no more than the minimum four games. Once activated, Chark figures to command a few looks per game in an offense where the other top wide receivers are Ladd McConkey, Quentin Johnston, and Josh Palmer. Still, Chark is off the fantasy radar ahead of his eventual return.

Justin Herbert Expected To Start Week 4 Against Chiefs

Barring a pregame setback, Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert (ankle) is expected to start Sunday's game against the Chiefs according to NFL Network. Herbert is dealing with a high-ankle sprain but is expected to fight through it to play in Week 4. Rashawn Slater (pectoral) has been ruled out and Joe Alt (knee) is doubtful, so the Chargers' offense will not be operating at full-go against the talented Chiefs' defense potentially without two tackles. A slightly hobbled Herbert with a make-shift offensive line is not a good recipe for fantasy success, so managers with other options might want to look elsewhere at the quarterback position.

Hayden Hurst No Longer On The Injury Report

Los Angeles Chargers tight end Hayden Hurst (Achilles) doesn't carry an injury designation ahead of Sunday's AFC West matchup with the Chiefs. The veteran was on the injury report before the Week 3 meeting with the Steelers because of an ankle injury. While he was on the field for that one, he finished with just two catches for 15 yards. With only five receptions in the first three games of the 2024-25 campaign, Hurst likely isn't on many fantasy rosters. As such, he should not be starting in Week 4.

Joshua Palmer Cleared To Face The Chiefs

Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Joshua Palmer (calf, elbow) has been cleared to play in Week 4 against the division-rival Kansas City Chiefs after he missed the Week 3 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Palmer was limited in the first practice of the week on Wednesday before being a full-go on both Thursday and Friday. Fellow wideout Derius Davis (hamstring) is questionable for the weekend. There was a lot of hype around Palmer in training camp as quarterback Justin Herbert's go-to guy this year, but he disappointed the first two weeks with four catches for only 34 yards before getting hurt and missing last week's game. It's good news for the Bolts that Palmer is returning, but with Herbert trying to play through a high-ankle sprain, we wouldn't recommend throwing Palmer back into your starting lineups this week as a flex play against a Chiefs defense that has allowed the 21st-most half-PPR fantasy points to receivers through the season's first three weeks.

Justin Herbert Officially Questionable For Week 4

Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert (ankle) was limited in practice all week and is officially questionable to suit up against the division-rival Kansas City Chiefs in Week 4 on Sunday. In addition to Herbert being questionable, rookie right tackle Joe Alt (knee) is questionable, while left tackle Rashawn Slater (pectoral) has already been ruled out. Herbert aggravated a right high-ankle sprain in the Week 3 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers but is "doing everything he can" to play this weekend despite the Chargers having their bye in Week 5. The 26-year-old will surely have his mobility limited against the back-to-back Super Bowl-champion Chiefs if he plays on Sunday, and he could also be under siege with LA's offensive line at less than 100% health. As things stand now, we would expect Herbert to play, but the Chargers could play it safe and start backup Taylor Heinicke instead. Herbert will be a low-end QB2 in fantasy if he's active.
