Ravens Claim Steven Sims Off Waivers

The Baltimore Ravens claimed wide receiver Steven Sims off waivers on Monday from the Houston Texans. The move to add Sims comes after the Ravens waived disgruntled wideout Diontae Johnson late last week, who was ironically claimed by the Texans. The two teams will face off against each other on Christmas Day on Wednesday. The 27-year-old mostly served in a special teams role with the Texans the last two years. In only seven games played this year, Sims was not targeted at all in the passing game and had just one carry for no gain. The Ravens are likely just bringing Sims in as extra receiver insurance on a short week with both Zay Flowers (shoulder) and Nelson Agholor (concussion) banged up. Even if Flowers and Agholor are ruled out on Christmas Day, we'd be surprised if Sims played an immediate big role on offense for the Ravens.

Zay Flowers, Nelson Agholor Pick Up DNPs On Sunday

Baltimore Ravens wide receivers Zay Flowers (shoulder) and Nelson Agholor (concussion) were listed as DNPs in Sunday's practice estimation. Flowers had five catches for 100 yards in the win over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Saturday. But he came out of the game with a shoulder injury, so he wouldn't have practiced had the team actually done so on Sunday. With the quick turnaround heading into Wednesday's Christmas Day game versus the Houston Texans, fantasy managers should monitor things closely over the next few days. If Flowers can't get out there for that one, Rashod Bateman and Mark Andrews would be the favorites to see more looks from quarterback Lamar Jackson.

Justice Hill Absent In Sunday's Practice Estimation

Baltimore Ravens running back Justice Hill (concussion) didn't practice in Sunday's estimation. The 27-year-old had two carries for 30 yards in Saturday's AFC North encounter with the Pittsburgh Steelers. However, he suffered a concussion and did not return. While there's a chance Hill could be ready for the Christmas meeting with the Houston Texans, it's unlikely. If that's the case, Rasheen Ali could serve as the No. 2 option out of the backfield, although Derrick Henry should get most of the touches.

Justice Hill Faces Uphill Battle For Week 17

Baltimore Ravens running back Justice Hill (concussion) was forced to exit early during Saturday's win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. Hill suffered a concussion after landing on his head during that second quarter. He was taken to the locker room and ruled out shortly after that. Afterwards, head coach John Harbaugh didn't sound optimistic about Hill being ready in time for their Christmas Day game on Wednesday. Honestly, it's tough to imagine Hill is going to get cleared from concussion protocol by Wednesday. Fantasy managers who were planning on using Hill should look elsewhere for help. Rasheen Ali would end up being the primary backup if Hill is unable to go. However, there's not many touches available with Derrick Henry being the workhorse back.

Rashod Bateman Scores TD With Lone Catch

Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Rashod Bateman caught only one pass Saturday against the Pittsburgh Steelers, but made it count for a 14-yard touchdown. He was targeted three times in the 34-17 victory, but Baltimore heavily leaned on its running game, rushing for 220 yards. The Minnesota product was questionable with a foot injury and played through it, but wasn't involved much as the Ravens completed only 15 passes in the game. Bateman should continue to be a boom-or-bust option as Baltimore takes on the Texans in Week 17.
