Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Dayton Wade continued to be the top pass-catcher in both targets and receiving yards on Saturday afternoon. This time, the rookie out of Ole Miss registered a big-time scoring play in the third quarter while working with fellow rookie Emory Jones. Wade was targeted four times in this contest and caught two of them for 67 yards and a touchdown. His biggest play was a 56-yard catch-and-run where he used a great stutter-step move to fake out the defensive back and break free. Once he was wide open, Jones delivered a perfect ball and Wade trotted in for the score. After two preseason games, Wade has six receptions on nine targets for 94 yards and one touchdown. With Devontez Walker (ribs) ailing from a rib injury, Wade could be playing himself higher up on the depth chart than expected.
Baltimore Ravens running back Chris Collier received the most touches out of the backfield in the team's second preseason game on Saturday afternoon. The rookie back out of Lock Haven University finished the game with 12 carries for 29 yards and two catches for 22 yards on two targets. The ground game didn't see much work in this contest as the three quarterbacks combined to miss only four total throws, but Collier was a bit more efficient on the ground than Owen Wright who was the leading back in the first preseason game. The most efficient of the night was John Kelly Jr., but Collier seemed to be the one getting the bigger tryout. Either way, the running back depth chart is crowded with Derrick Henry, Justice Hill, Keaton Mitchell, and Rasheen Ali, so this competition seems to be more for the end of the bench.
Baltimore Ravens quarterback Josh Johnson put together a nearly perfect half of football in the team's 13-12 win over the Atlanta Falcons on Saturday afternoon. The veteran completed all 11 of his pass attempts for 120 yards and a touchdown and carried the ball twice for eight yards on the ground. The lone miscues were a sack for 12 yards and a miscommunication with the center that led to a fumble, but it didn't officially count in Johnson's box score. In the first quarter, a lot of Johnson's throws were short passing plays, but he ended up completing big play after big play in the second quarter. In the touchdown drive, he completed passes of 12, 13, and 31 yards respectively, capped off by a six-yard score to Owen Wright.
Cleveland Browns tight end Zaire Mitchell-Paden turned in a solid effort in his team's 27-12 preseason loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Saturday. Mitchell-Paden led the team in receiving, hauling in all four of his targets for 59 yards in the loss. The undrafted second-year tight end out of Florida Atlantic has been productive in Cleveland's two preseason games, catching seven passes for 79 yards thus far. While David Njoku has the No. 1 TE job locked down in Cleveland, Mitchell-Paden will look to carve out a reserve role in the team's offense once the regular season starts. For now, he is worth consideration in preseason DFS contests in Week 3 of the preseason when the Browns face the Seattle Seahawks.
Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson will not suit up for Saturday's preseason game at home as the Ravens host the Falcons on Saturday. Jackson, who has not played a preseason game since 2021, will be on the sideline along with other Baltimore starters, said head coach John Harbaugh on Wednesday. Jackson should be his dynamic self when Week 1 rolls around, where he'll be counted on to spearhead the Ravens' offensive attack as a dual-threat weapon that defenses need to account for. As a top fantasy quarterback, Jackson is as safe as it gets. The reigning NFL MVP threw for 3,678 yards passing and added 821 rushing yards on the ground and will be an easy top-five quarterback in all fantasy formats this season.
