The Cleveland Guardians activated outfielder Will Brennan (rib cage) from the 10-day injured list on Thursday and optioned infielder Gabriel Arias to Triple-A Columbus in a corresponding move. Brennan is starting in right field for the Guardians on Thursday and will bat seventh against the division-rival Detroit Tigers and right-hander Jack Flaherty in the series finale. The 26-year-old left-handed-hitting outfielder figures to return to the strong side of a platoon in right field for Cleveland now that he's recovered from rib-cage inflammation. The former eighth-round pick in 2019 from Kansas State will return to a .256/.314/.414 slash line with a .730 OPS, eight home runs, 24 RBI and 28 runs scored in 207 at-bats this year, making him worthy of a roster spot in AL-only leagues with the first-place Guardians.
Cleveland Guardians outfielder Will Brennan (rib) has been placed on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to June 25. This move was expected after Brennan missed some time due to rib-cage inflammation. There isn't a timetable for his return right now, so the hope is that this won't be a lengthy absence. In the meantime, Daniel Schneemann figures to see more playing time in the outfield. He has been decent at the plate but doesn't offer a ton of upside in terms of fantasy value.
Cleveland Guardians outfielder Will Brennan went 3-for-4 on Thursday with two home runs and a double to lead the Guardians to a victory over the Seattle Mariners. Brennan got things started with a solo shot in the second inning against Seattle ace Luis Castillo. Then, in the fourth, he hit his seventh double of the season. To cap things off, in the eighth, he hit his second solo shot of the afternoon off Trent Thornton to give the Guardians a three-run lead. Through 64 games this season, the Kansas State product has posted a .251/.307/.405 line with seven long balls and three stolen bases. Brennan should continue to serve as the everyday right fielder in Cleveland and is worth a look in deeper points leagues as he holds a stellar 12.4% K rate.
Cleveland Guardians outfielder Will Brennan blasted a walk-off three-run home run to cap off Sunday's win over the division-rival Minnesota Twins, going deep for the fifth time this year. In a wild ninth inning, Brennan sent a Jhoan Duran first-pitch curveball 363 feet to right field for the game-winning jack. Despite Sunday's heroics, the 26-year-old lefty-hitting right fielder is still slashing a weak .231/.283/.396 with five homers, 18 RBI, and two stolen bases in 134 at-bats (42 games) for the Guardians this season and is only a viable fantasy option in deep mixed or AL-only fantasy leagues. With Steven Kwan (hamstring) nearing a minor-league rehab assignment, Brennan could become a part-time player in Cleveland's outfield in the near future.
Cleveland Guardians outfielder Will Brennan went 3-for-4 with three singles in Thursday's loss versus the Houston Astros. Brennen has now had multi-hit games in five of his last nine games. His performance on Thursday raised his batting average to .253 on the season and he has four homers, 11 RBI and two stolen bases on the young campaign. Brennan quietly has put together a good season, but he is a platoon player with outfielder Ramon Laureano and that limits his upside. He is worth a look in deeper formats as he continues to swing well, but there are likely players with better upside and opportunity on the waiver wire.
