Milwaukee Brewers right-handed reliever Trevor Megill (elbow) might need a few days to let his right elbow calm down after he took a comebacker off of it in his appearance on Tuesday night in the loss to the division-rival Chicago Cubs, but the good news is that he has avoided being placed on the injured list for now. X-rays on the 30-year-old's elbow came back negative for any breaks, but fantasy managers shouldn't expect him to be available for any save chances for at least a few days. In the meantime, Elvis Peguero, Joel Payamps and Bryan Hudson could all be in the mix to be used if a save situation arises in the next couple of days. With Devin Williams (back) still on the injured list, Megill has emerged as Milwaukee's preferred closing choice and has pitched to a 2.57 ERA and 1.14 WHIP with his first eight saves in 2024.
Milwaukee Brewers relief pitcher Trevor Megill (arm) was forced to leave Tuesday's game in the 10th inning against the visiting division-rival Chicago Cubs after he was hit in the right arm by a line drive off the bat of outfielder Mike Tauchman. Megill was hit with the loss, his first of the year, after allowing two runs (one earned) on just one hit to raise his season ERA to 2.57. We should have a better idea of how serious the 30-year-old reliever's injury is later on Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning after he likely undergoes some tests. Megill has emerged as Milwaukee's go-to arm for save situations with Devin Williams (back) on the shelf all year. Coming into Tuesday's game, Megill had a sharp 1.93 ERA and 1.07 WHIP with his first eight career saves. If Megill is forced to miss extended time with his arm injury, Elvis Peguero and Bryan Hudson could be options for save opportunities.UPDATE: Megill did not suffer a fracture, per manager Pat Murphy.
Milwaukee Brewers reliever Trevor Megill recorded a one-out save in Sunday's 6-3 win over the Boston Red Sox. He allowed one hit and struck out one over a 1/3 of an inning to secure the save. With two outs and the tying run at the plate, Megill was called on to protect the lead. He allowed an RBI single to the first batter he faced but quickly rebounded by striking out Red Sox infielder David Hamilton to end the game. The 30-year-old has converted 8-of-9 saves while owning a 1.93 ERA, 1.07 WHIP, and 18 strikeouts over 14 innings in 2024. Megill is Milwaukee's primary closer, while Devin Williams (back) is sidelined, and fantasy managers should continue to roll with him in all league formats.
Milwaukee Brewers relieverTrevor Megillpicked up his sixth save of the season in Saturday's 4-2 win at the Houston Astros, striking out three of the four batters he faced. He threw 16 pitches, landing 12 for strikes. Megill lowered his ERA to 1.54 and has not allowed a run in five of his last six outings. Overall, the 30-year-old owns a 1.54 ERA, 0.94 WHIP, and a 13:3 K: BB across 11 2/3 innings in 2024. Megill continues to fly under the radar and will continue to be Milwaukee's primary closer, while Devin Williams (back) is sidelined.
Milwaukee Brewers relief pitcher Trevor Megill picked up his fifth save of the season in Tuesday's 4-3 win over the Pirates. Megill entered to pitch the top of the ninth inning up by two. He got the first two outs on a pop-out and a strikeout, allowed a solo home run, and ended the game with another strikeout. The 30-year-old has served as the team's primary closer over the past few weeks and has now converted all of his save opportunities with a 1.69 ERA, an 8.44 K/9 rate, and a 2.53 BB/9 rate in 10 2/3 innings pitched. He has emerged as the fantasy arm to roster from the Brewers.
