Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Teoscar Hernandez put his power on full display Monday night at Globe Life Field, taking home the 2024 Home Run Derby title. Hernandez was able to edge Bobby Witt Jr. in the final round with 14 HR, becoming the first Dodger to win the event. The 31-year-old hit 49 long balls across three rounds, with his longest measuring 466 feet. Hernandez has provided power from a fantasy perspective throughout his career and is on an excellent pace this season, slashing .261/.327/.475 with 19 HR, 48 runs scored, 62 RBI, and four stolen bases in 402 plate appearances. He should have plenty of opportunities to provide more counting stats in the second half of the season while hitting in the middle of one of baseball's best lineups.
Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Teoscar Hernandez is back in left field and will bat second on Wednesday in Chicago against the White Sox and right-hander Erick Fedde. Hernandez left the team briefly to take care of a personal matter in the Dominican Republic and missed the first two games of the series in the Windy City, but he's back now and should be returned to all starting fantasy lineups amid an excellent first season in Hollywood. He has also homered twice with three RBI in his four career at-bats against Fedde, so the matchup is an excellent one for DFS managers. The 31-year-old right-handed slugger had a down year in 2023 with the Seattle Mariners and had a career-high 211 strikeouts, but he's bounced back in a big way and has been ultra-productive in a potent Dodgers lineup by hitting .254 (77-for-303) with 18 homers, 54 RBI and 43 runs scored in 79 games.
Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Teoscar Hernandez (personal) was scheduled to fly from the Dominican Republic to Chicago on Tuesday, but manager Dave Roberts said after Monday night's game against the White Sox that he will give Hernandez another day off. Fantasy managers need not fret, as Hernandez left the team to deal with a personal matter and should be back in the starting lineup on Wednesday. With Hernandez out of action for a second straight day, Miguel Vargas will draw into the lineup in left field and bat eighth against White Sox right-hander Chris Flexen. The 31-year-old Hernandez has been extremely productive in the middle of a powerhouse Dodgers lineup in his first year in LA and is a must-start in fantasy when he's active. He's currently batting .254/.321/.492 with an .813 OPS, 18 long balls, 16 doubles, a triple, 54 RBI and four steals in 79 games.
Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Teoscar Hernandez is out of the starting lineup ahead of Monday's game against the Chicago White Sox. There is no injury being reported, so it's assumed that this is a routine rest day for Hernandez. It is a bit odd to see Hernandez getting a day off against a left-handed starting pitcher. Regardless, Hernandez will sit out with Jason Heyward and Miguel Vargas covering the corner outfield spots on Monday.UPDATE: Hernandez is in the Dominican Republic for personal reasons and is expected to rejoin the team in Chicago on Tuesday.
Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Teoscar Hernandez came up clutch in his team's 11-9 win over the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday. Hernandez went 1-for-5 with a game-winning, three-run homer in the top of the ninth inning to power the Dodgers to victory. The veteran's homer traveled 423 feet and had an exit velocity of 106.3 MPH, capping off a seven-run ninth inning for Los Angeles in their comeback win. Hernandez is enjoying his first season with the Dodgers, hitting .255 with 18 homers, 41 runs, 54 RBI, and four steals across 286 at-bats. Hernandez will remain a must-play with two games left in the Dodgers' away series against the Rockies at Coors Field.
