The 27-year-old blossomed into an ace this year and should be one of the first pitchers off the board in fantasy drafts in 2025.

This was a nice bounce-back outing for the 27-year-old, as he carried a 4.50 ERA across his previous three outings. Overall through his fourth season in the big leagues, Gilbert sits with a sold 3.24 ERA, 0.90 WHIP, and a 36:207 BB:K. He has showcased excellent command with a near-perfect 4.6% walk rate and has generated whiffs at an above-average 30.8% rate. Gilbert is scheduled to close out his 2024 campaign with a divisional matchup against the Houston Astros next week.

The 27-year-old has put together great peripheral numbers in 28 starts this season and has a career-high K/9 rate of 9.17. However, his second half of the season has been more pedestrian overall, with a 4.37 ERA and 0.99 WHIP in eight starts and 45 1/3 IP. He will look to maintain his high strikeout totals while keeping runs off the board in his next start, which will be a decent matchup at the Cardinals.

Despite Monday's implosion, Gilbert is chasing a career year in ERA, strikeouts, and WHIP, but due to the lack of run support, he sits here at the end of July with a losing record. If you're in a "wins" and "losses" league, Gilbert has been slightly disappointing on that front, but there's no denying he's been making it up on all of the peripheral stats. The 27-year-old will have a tougher go of bouncing back when the Mariners take a trip to face the Philadelphia Phillies this weekend.
