Seattle Mariners starting pitcher Logan Gilbert finished off an excellent season with another strong performance on Sunday, tossing 5 scoreless innings in a 6-4 win over the Oakland Athletics. Gilbert had his way with the A's, allowing just one baserunner (a single) while striking out seven. He finishes the season with nine wins, a 3.23 ERA, a league-leading 0.89 WHIP, and 220 strikeouts in 208 IP. The 27-year-old blossomed into an ace this year and should be one of the first pitchers off the board in fantasy drafts in 2025.
Seattle Mariners starting pitcher Logan Gilbert fell to 8-12 in Tuesday's 4-3 loss to the Astros. Gilbert pitched six innings, allowing four runs on five hits (including three home runs) and a walk with six strikeouts. Home runs have been an issue for the 27-year-old in September, as he allowed eight long balls in five starts and 31 1/3 IP. Gilbert's second half was not as good as his first half, but he will presumably finish the season with a solid 3.33 ERA, a 0.91 WHIP, and a 9.44 K/9 rate in 32 starts and 203 IP. Gilbert proved himself to be a high-floor innings eater this season for fantasy managers and will likely see his fantasy stock rise for the 2025 season.
Seattle Mariners starting pitcher Logan Gilbert tossed 5 1/3 innings of two-run ball while striking out nine batters en route to earning his eighth victory of the summer on Thursday against the New York Yankees. This was a nice bounce-back outing for the 27-year-old, as he carried a 4.50 ERA across his previous three outings. Overall through his fourth season in the big leagues, Gilbert sits with a sold 3.24 ERA, 0.90 WHIP, and a 36:207 BB:K. He has showcased excellent command with a near-perfect 4.6% walk rate and has generated whiffs at an above-average 30.8% rate. Gilbert is scheduled to close out his 2024 campaign with a divisional matchup against the Houston Astros next week.
Seattle Mariners starting pitcher Logan Gilbert continued to provide strikeouts in Monday's 5-4 loss to the Athletics. Gilbert pitched six innings, allowing four runs on four hits (including a three-run home run) and a walk with nine strikeouts. The 27-year-old has put together great peripheral numbers in 28 starts this season and has a career-high K/9 rate of 9.17. However, his second half of the season has been more pedestrian overall, with a 4.37 ERA and 0.99 WHIP in eight starts and 45 1/3 IP. He will look to maintain his high strikeout totals while keeping runs off the board in his next start, which will be a decent matchup at the Cardinals.
Seattle Mariners starting pitcher Logan Gilbert (6-7) got rocked for seven earned runs on Monday night after 2 2/3 innings of work, allowing seven hits with no walks and four strikeouts in a 14-7 defeat at the hands of the Boston Red Sox. The tough start jumped Gilbert's excellent 2.72 ERA to 3.11 on the season. It's the most earned runs the young righty has allowed since giving up eight earned runs back on May 9 to the Minnesota Twins. Despite Monday's implosion, Gilbert is chasing a career year in ERA, strikeouts, and WHIP, but due to the lack of run support, he sits here at the end of July with a losing record. If you're in a "wins" and "losses" league, Gilbert has been slightly disappointing on that front, but there's no denying he's been making it up on all of the peripheral stats. The 27-year-old will have a tougher go of bouncing back when the Mariners take a trip to face the Philadelphia Phillies this weekend.
