The Tampa Bay Rays are calling up infield prospect Junior Caminero, according to sources, and he will join the team on Tuesday before their game against the visiting Houston Astros. Caminero is Tampa's top prospect and the No. 2 overall prospect in baseball, per MLB Pipeline, and should immediately picked up by fantasy managers in leagues where he wasn't already being stashed. The 21-year-old made his big-league debut in 2023 but only appeared in seven games, going 8-for-34 (.235) with a homer, a double and seven RBI. He recently returned to Triple-A Durham at the end of July after being out since late May with a Grade 2 left-quadriceps strain and has slashed .277/.331/.498 with an .828 OPS, 13 homers and 34 RBI in 53 games with the Bulls in 2024. Caminero should play regularly for the out-of-contention Rays the rest of the way at either third or shortstop, and his high-end raw power should play immediately in all fantasy leagues.
Tampa Bay Rays infield prospect Junior Caminero went 3-for-4 with a solo home run on Sunday for Triple-A Durham. In 19 games since returning to the Bulls from injury, Caminero is slashing .304/.325/.532 with three doubles, five homers, 10 RBI, and 2:15 BB/SO. Through 59 total games in 2024, he's slashing .274/.337/.521 with 10 doubles, 16 homers, 39 RBI, and 21:52 BB/SO. Currently MLB's No. 2 prospect (per MLB.com), fantasy baseball managers are eagerly awaiting Caminero's promotion to the majors, which should come before the season's end.
Tampa Bay Rays shortstop prospect Junior Caminero went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and two runs scored on Sunday for Triple-A Durham. It was the 12th home run of the season for MLB's third-ranked prospect and third multi-hit effort in his last four games. The 21-year-old owns a .267-12-31-30-1 line in 48 games for the Bulls and should be on the verge of a call-up to the majors. Whenever the overdue call-up does take place, the Dominican can be an impact bat for fantasy with big power potential. As such, he remains a must-stash in all leagues.
Tampa Bay Rays third base prospect Junior Caminero went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI on Thursday evening. Since returning to Triple-A on July 20 due to a quadriceps injury, the top prospect has gone deep three times, holding a strong .279/.304/.536 line with six RBI and two doubles. Overall, the 21-year-old has held a .265/.327/.429 slash line with 11 home runs, 30 RBI, and one swiped bag across 45 games at Triple-A Durham this summer. Caminero is on the verge of returning to the major leagues and should remain stashed in all formats. When given the call, the young infielder could provide elite power production and be a league winner down the stretch.
Tampa Bay Rays infielder Junior Caminero has been on a hot streak at the plate lately. The top prospect blasted his fourth home run in his past eight games on Sunday. Caminero currently sits as the No. 3 prospect in baseball according to MLB Pipeline. He has been on a tear at the place since returning from injury. The way Caminero is hitting it shouldn't be long before he's tearing the cover off the ball in Tampa Bay. It remains to be seen if the Rays will make Caminero a September call-up. Otherwise, Caminero should be ready to play on the big league roster for the 2025 season.
