Texas Rangers third baseman Josh Jung (wrist) will take live batting practice on Tuesday after he was shut down for the weekend due to wrist soreness. He could be activated off of the injured list as soon as Tuesday if all goes well in the session. Jung went 4-for-17 with five strikeouts during his four-game rehab stint at Triple-A Round Rock. He has been sidelined since fracturing his wrist way back on April 1, but his return seems imminent. Upon activation, Jung will serve as the team's primary third baseman and offer solid power numbers for fantasy managers. The 26-year-old slashed .266/.315/.467 with 23 home runs and 70 RBI across 122 games last season. He should be owned in all fantasy formats once he is back.
Texas Rangers third baseman Josh Jung (wrist) was pulled off his minor-league rehab assignment and is returning to Arlington, Texas, to be examined this weekend, and the Rangers will then make a decision on whether his rehab assignment will continue or if he'll be activated from the injured list to rejoin the big-league roster. If the team's doctors and decision-makers like what they see, the 26-year-old right-handed slugger could be back in the lineup later this weekend against the visiting Kansas City Royals. He has gone 4-for-17 in four rehab games with Triple-A Round Rock as he recovers from a fractured wrist that he suffered way back on April 1. When he returns, Jung will be the team's starting third baseman and should be rostered in all fantasy leagues. Both Josh Smith and Ezequiel Duran will lose out on playing time at the hot corner when Jung is activated.
Texas Rangers third baseman Josh Jung (wrist) is swinging a lighter bat right now, but manager Bruce Bochy said "he looks great." After watching Jung hit on Wednesday, Bochy said, "You'd think he was going to be ready in a couple of days." After visiting with the doctor that performed the surgery on his broken right wrist in early April on Tuesday, the 26-year-old was cleared to resume swinging a bat this week. Fantasy managers will be happy to hear that he's progressing nicely, but Jung still has a ways to go before he rejoins the Rangers' lineup as their starting third baseman. For now, Jung will continue to go through baseball activities while hoping to eventually go on a minor-league rehab assignment sooner than later. When Jung returns, he'll be a must-start in fantasy lineups for his power upside in a strong Texas lineup.
Texas Rangers third baseman Josh Jung (wrist) is doing all baseball activities except hitting and seems hopeful that he will beat a report over the weekend saying that he will be out until early July. Jung is currently swinging a light stick and hasn't had any issues with it, but he hasn't tested his broken right wrist by swinging a bat yet. Monday marks seven weeks since Jung was hit by a pitch, and he had surgery on his wrist two days later. If he's cleared to swing a bat in the next week, there's a chance he could be back with the Rangers in late June. While Jung has had his share of injuries early in his career, he has had a history of being a quick healer, so fantasy managers will have to hope for the best. When healthy, the 26-year-old right-handed slugger is the Rangers' everyday third baseman and is a must-start in all fantasy lineups.
Texas Rangers third baseman Josh Jung (wrist) still has not resumed swinging a bat and is at least six weeks from returning to the Rangers' starting lineup. Given the complex nature of his wrist fracture, Jung's recovery has been delayed, but he needs to remain stashed in all fantasy formats for his power upside in a strong Rangers lineup when he's back in the fold. The 26-year-old former eighth overall pick in 2019 out of Texas Tech has developed a bit of a reputation for being injury-prone early in his career, missing time with an injury in 2023 while also injuring his calf in spring training this year. Jung had surgery for his fractured right wrist on April 2 but resumed playing catch this week. Fantasy managers must remain patient. As a first-time All-Star in 2023, Jung hit .266 with 23 homers and 70 RBI in 122 games, and he already had two homers in his first four games this year before fracturing his wrist.
