Free-agent shortstop Aledmys Diaz is signing with the Houston Astros, according to Chandler Rome of The Athletic. The 33-year-old infielder will report to the Houston complex at West Palm Beach. Diaz spent the entirety of last season in Oakland and logged 12 games with them this season before being let go last week. He posted a poor .229/.280/.337 slash line with four long balls last summer and a mere .103/.133/.103 line in his small stint this season. Diaz will likely spend some time at Triple-A before serving as a depth infield option on the major-league roster. He should remain on the waiver wire in all leagues unless he earns a clear starting role.
