Brandon Nimmo Back In Starting Lineup

New York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo (head) is back in left field and hitting in the two-hole for the Mets on Wednesday as they take on the division-rival Washington Nationals and left-hander Mitchell Parker in D.C. Nimmo fell at his hotel room on Sunday night and suffered a laceration on his forehead, prompting the Mets to hold him out of Monday's series opener. He was also held out of the starting lineup on Tuesday before replacing the injured Harrison Bader (head) while going 2-for-4. It's no surprise, then, that the 31-year-old left-handed hitter is back in action for the third game of the series. Nimmo is hitting a respectable .262 (22-for-84) against left-handers on the year, but with only three of his 13 long balls. He's never faced Parker in his career.

Brandon Nimmo Out Again On Tuesday

New York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo (head) is sitting out on Tuesday against the division-rival Washington Nationals for the second straight day. Nimmo slipped at his hotel room on Sunday night and suffered a cut on his forehead and is now missing his second straight game to begin the series against Washington. The 31-year-old avoided a concussion, though, so he's day-to-day and could be back in there on Wednesday. The struggling Jeff McNeil will start in left field again on Tuesday and bat ninth against Nationals rookie left-hander DJ Herz. McNeil, a former batting champion, has fallen on hard times in 2024 and is danger of losing playing time if he doesn't pick things up offensively. The good news is he's hit better against lefties this year, going 20-for-79 (.253) with a homer and six RBI, but he's a DFS fade out of the nine-hole the way he's been hitting.

Brandon Nimmo Sitting Against Southpaw On Monday

New York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo is getting the day off on Monday for the start of a series against the Washington Nationals in D.C. with a left-hander on the mound. With Nimmo on the bench, Jeff McNeil is making the start in left field and is batting ninth against Nationals left-hander MacKenzie Gore. It's a good day to get Nimmo off his feet, as he came into this one having started each of the team's last 15 games. Although McNeil is hitting .857 in seven career at-bats against Gore with a 1.732 OPS, he's struggled at the plate all year and won't be a popular addition to DFS lineups on Monday against a southpaw. The left-handed-hitting Nimmo has hit .256 (21-for-82) against lefties this year with only three of his 13 home runs.UPDATE: Nimmo slipped in his hotel room on Sunday night and got a gash on his head. He was hospitalized until Monday but doesn't have a concussion, according to manager Carlos Mendoza.
