Brown was released from a hospital on Sunday morning and has returned to Kansas City. Specifically, the 27-year-old wideout injured the sternoclavicular joint in his shoulder and will miss some time, which could very well jeopardize his availability to kick off his first year in KC in a Thursday night battle against the Baltimore Ravens. Tyreek Hill had a similar injury back in 2019 and was forced to miss four regular-season games. With Rashee Rice potentially opening the season serving a suspension, the Chiefs' receiving corps could be lacking, with rookie Xavier Worthy, Justin Watson, Skyy Moore and Kadarius Toney benefitting.

Hill ended up missing four games before returning to action. "Brown will miss some time," said Reid. His status for Week 1 is up in the air. Barring a potential suspension, Rashee Rice will lead the way for the Chiefs wide receiver group. At the same time, Xavier Worthy, Skyy Moore, Justin Watson, and Kadarius Toney should see an uptick in snaps while Brown is sidelined.

The Chiefs' starters were only slated to play the opening frame regardless, but as of now -- there has been no further update on the veteran wide receiver. This remains a situation to monitor. The 27-year-old star wideout registered a pitiful 5.7 yards per target over 101 targets a year ago in the desert with the Arizona Cardinals, badly fading after a hot start and missing four games with a sore heel, but he'll have a great chance to bounce back as a fringe WR2/3 in fantasy drafts with superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes in 2024. After dropping just one pass over his 51 receptions, Brown should at least give the Chiefs' offense some stability this year after it was plagued by receiver drops last year. With the Rashee Rice situation in a state of uncertainty, Brown's ADP could rise or fall based on when or if Rice gets suspended.
