Baltimore Ravens running back Justice Hill signed a two-year, $6 million contract extension with the team on Friday, according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network. The 26-year-old has gradually grown into a more significant role in the Baltimore offense every season and is currently on pace to set a new career-high in targets and receptions out of the backfield. So far this season, Hill has logged eight more snaps than Derrick Henry and caught eight of his 10 targets for 62 receiving yards. He has added 25 yards on the ground on five attempts. Fantasy managers in PPR formats should view Hill as a low-end flex play given his role as a pass-catcher in the Baltimore offense going forward. However, in standard formats, Hill is best left on the waiver wire given the few rushing attempts he sees.

Hill remains the primary back in passing situations, and the Ravens weren't playing from behind in most of this game. That situation is not likely to change as the season rolls on, so his fantasy value will be dependent on the game script. This offense hasn't been able to find a consistent stride yet, so Hill hasn't been able to get any garbage time opportunities either. In Week 3, the Ravens will hit the road and play the Dallas Cowboys, another tougher defense that will test their offensive potential and could translate to more passing work for Hill.

Hill took just one carry for three yards in Baltimore's Week 1 contest against the Kansas City Chiefs. He also added 52 yards on six catches and eight targets. The fifth-year RB was heavily involved in the Ravens' passing game while tying for second in the team lead in targets and with the third-most receptions and yards. He was clearly the first up in passing situations for the Ravens, but will be challenging to project for such a role weekly. With backfield mate Derrick Henry to take most of the early-down work -- and project for most of the goal-line carries, too -- the 26-year-old RB will be a volatile, game-script-dependent play. He'll be tough to trust in Baltimore's home opener this Sunday.

When asked about running back Justice Hill, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh referred to him as a "high-value running back." It's apparent that Hill has solidified his role as the RB2 in Baltimore's backfield. "he's a high-caliber running back, I think he's going to play a lot," said Harbaugh. However, with Derrick Henry in front of him and Lamar Jackson slated to get his fair share of the team's carries, the opportunities will be scant for the fifth-year RB. Hill had the most productive season of his career in 2023, amassing 593 yards and four touchdowns on 112 total touches. He holds little standalone value but would be the most obvious player to benefit if Henry were to miss any time. Standing as the current RB72 in NFFC ADP, Hill presents as nothing more than a handcuff option or late-round best-ball flier.

Hill only received three carries which he turned into three yards. He also received seven targets in which he caught four of them for 34 yards. Since the Ravens abandoned the run game early on, he didn't get many opportunities to get into a rhythm on the ground. His routes mainly consisted of screen passes and checkdowns, so he wasn't seeing many big plays either. Hill remained inconsistent this season, but he saw career highs in almost every category across the board both on the ground and through the air. If he isn't within the top two on the depth chart next year, he likely won't be worth a draft pick in redraft fantasy leagues.
