Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff completed 25 of his 41 passing attempts for 273 yards, one touchdown, and zero interceptions in the 34-31 loss to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship Game. The veteran signal-caller arguably did enough to win, but crucial drops down the stretch and on fourth down sealed the Lions' defeat. The 29-year-old had his best season since at least 2018 this year, so look for Detroit to offer him an extension this offseason. Although he's likely going to lose offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, he'll remain on the fantasy radar throwing to Amon-Ra St. Brown, Sam LaPorta, and company next season.
Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff has been excellent in the team's two playoff wins this postseason, completing over 74% of his passes for 564 yards and three touchdowns. He has not thrown an interception. However, he faced the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Los Angeles Rams secondaries that were picked apart during the regular season. A road matchup with the San Francisco 49ers will be a whole new challenge. The 49ers surrendered the ninth-fewest fantasy points per game to signal-callers in 2023, and Goff's passer rating dropped from 107.9 at home to 89.4 on the road. Ultimately, he has the lowest ceiling and floor of the four quarterbacks set to play on Conference Championship Sunday.
Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff completed 30 of his 43 passing attempts for 287 yards two touchdowns and no interceptions in the NFC Divisional win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It was another great playoff performance for the former No. 1 overall pick, and he will lead the organization into the NFC Championship game against the San Francisco 49ers. The 49ers have been stingy against quarterbacks this year, but the Detroit offense is explosive in most matchups and the Lions' offensive line should match up well with the 49ers' strong defensive front.
The Detroit Lions are expected to "ramp up" contract extension talks with quarterback Jared Goff this upcoming offseason, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Goff has looked excellent in his third season with Detroit, completing 67.3 percent of his passes for 4,575 yards, 30 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. All the while, the 29-year-old has led the Lions to a historic playoff run, which continues Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Rapoport notes that while Goff was a throw-in piece to the Matthew Stafford trade in 2021, the Lions have always viewed him as a potential franchise cornerstone and now have the opportunity to extend him as such.
Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff was excellent in the Wild Card win over his former team, the Los Angeles Rams. He completed 22 of his 27 passing attempts, threw a touchdown, and did not commit a turnover. On Sunday, he should be in for another efficient outing against a Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense that surrendered the eighth-most fantasy points per game to quarterbacks during the regular season. The Buccaneers love to blitz, which could either affect Goff negatively or lead to busted coverage that he can exploit. He has a 300-yard, three-touchdown ceiling in this matchup, so he's an intriguing DFS option in single-game and full-slate contests.
