Bills Need To Give Stefon Diggs Help

The Athletic's Joe Buscaglia believes that the wide receiver position is the Buffalo Bills' biggest need heading into the new league year in 2024. The Bills will still have quarterback Josh Allen and receiver Stefon Diggs, but the second half of last year yielded a lack of consistent explosive plays on offense and capped some of the team's overall potential. The absence of an explosive receiver who could attract attention away from Diggs made the Bills rely on shorter throws, their running game and longer drives to come away with points. Adding a top-tier receiver in this year's NFL draft could help open things up for Buffalo on offense significantly, which could help them eventually return to the Super Bowl. Giving Diggs help across the field should also help him produce more after he ended last year with a low ceiling for fantasy managers.

C.J. Stroud Wins Offensive Rookie Of The Year Honors

Houston Texans rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud was named as the 2024 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year on Thursday. The 22-year-old No. 2 overall pick absolutely took the league by storm in his first year in the NFL while also being led by first-time play-caller Bobby Slowik. The former Ohio State star looked like a seasoned veteran and was cool under pressure all year, finishing a 63.9 completion percentage for 4,108 passing yards, 23 touchdowns and only five interceptions in 15 regular season games while also leading the Texans to a wild-card playoff win over the Browns. With some intriguing weapons around him in the backfield and in the passing game, Stroud will firmly be in the QB1 picture in fantasy heading into his sophomore season.

Tank Dell Progressing Nicely In Rehab

Doctors have been pleased with Houston Texans wide receiver Tank Dell's (leg) rehab and he has started light pool work as he recovers from surgery for his broken left fibula. Dell took the NFL by storm in his first season while working with impressive rookie first-round quarterback C.J. Stroud in 2023, but his season ended in Week 13 against the Denver Broncos when he broke his leg. In 11 games, the 24-year-old caught 47 of 75 targets for 709 yards and seven touchdowns. The third-round pick will most likely sit out of offseason workouts this spring, but barring a setback, he could be ready to go for training camp this summer and the preseason. Even though Dell didn't play a full season due to injury in 2023, he showed enough in his rookie season with Stroud to give him plenty of fantasy appeal heading into his sophomore campaign.

Stefon Diggs Unsure About His Future

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Stefon Diggs expressed uncertainty about his future in Buffalo in his first comments since losing in the Divisional Round of the playoffs to the Kansas City Chiefs. When asked whether he was ready to move forward with the Bills, Diggs said, "I'm ready to go no matter which way it goes," and did not elaborate. Diggs saved his worst for last in the loss to KC, catching just three passes for 21 yards on eight targets while also dropping a crucial deep pass that could have won the game in the fourth quarter. Diggs will have a $27.354 million salary cap hit in 2024 and still has three years left on the four-year extension he signed in 2022. General manager Brandon Beane backed Diggs after being eliminated from the playoffs, but Diggs' recent comments could be construed as non-committal to his future in Buffalo. The 30-year-old had a sixth straight 1,000-yard season in 2023, but he finished with just 422 yards and two touchdowns in his final 10 games.

Bills GM Confident In Stefon Diggs Moving Forward

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Stefon Diggs had a disastrous second half of the 2023 season that extended into the playoffs. Over his final 13 games, he failed to post over 87 receiving yards, and he fell under 55 yards in eight of those contests. He caught just ten passes for 73 yards and no touchdowns in the Bills' playoff games against the Pittsburgh Steelers and Kansas City Chiefs. However, general manager Brandon Beane is confident in Diggs moving forward. "He's a No. 1 receiver," Beane told reporters on Tuesday during his end-of-season news conference. "I firmly believe that. I'm not wavering off of that. We have to continue to put weapons out there to keep teams from bracketing him or locking him down in different ways. I know there's various reasons or questions on this, there's production and all that, but I still see Stef as a No. 1 receiver." The three-time Pro Bowler turned 30 during the 2023 campaign, so there's a chance he is beyond his prime years of production. That said, it sounds like Beane would like to keep him around and the team still views him as the clear top option in the passing game for 2024.
