Keenan Allen Says He Wants To Stay With Chargers

Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Keenan Allen said he wants to stay with the team but also acknowledged all the uncertainty this offseason given the team's salary cap situation. Allen said he'd only be open to playing for a select number of other teams and has prioritized winning at this point in his career. The 31-year-old has one year remaining on his contract with the Bolts but could be cut for around $11.6 million in dead cap space. Cutting him would save LA $23.1 million in cap space for 2024 and also give him a shot to win elsewhere, because that might not be happening anytime soon with the Chargers now once again on the lookout for a new coaching staff after firing Brandon Staley midseason. However, his combination with quarterback Justin Herbert is enticing and paid off for fantasy managers that took Allen in 2023. Despite missing the last four games with a heel injury, Allen finished as a top-10 wideout in half-PPR scoring.

Roschon Johnson Gets Five Carries To End Season

Chicago Bears running back Roschon Johnson wrapped up his rookie season in limited fashion, rushing five times for 20 yards in the team's 17-9 loss to the Packers in Week 18. The 2023 fourth-round pick ended his first season with 332 rushing yards on over four yards per attempt along with 209 receiving yards. Despite having to fight for opportunities with veterans Khalil Herbert and D'Onta Foreman, Johnson showed what he can do in the passing game this year and looks to be a weapon for this team to utilize going forward. While he never gained a consistent enough role to be valuable to fantasy managers, Johnson should have more opportunity next year if the team doesn't make a big move for a running back. Like most rookie running backs, he was never completely unleashed and will look to take a step forward in a bigger role in 2024.

Khalil Herbert Quiet In Final Game

Chicago Bears running back Khalil Herbert had another chance to see a bulk of the workload with D'Onta Foreman (coach's decision) out again in Week 18. The 25-year-old rushed 12 times for just 28 yards in the team's 17-9 loss to the Packers while also catching two passes for 13 yards. After rushing for 731 yards a year ago, Herbert couldn't take a step forward and ended the year with just 583 yards with similar volume. The Bears drafted Roschon Johnson in 2023, and Herbert failed to separate himself this year as the true lead back for the foreseeable future. While the Bears were a run-heavy team in 2023, which allowed Herbert to thrive at times, they will either endure massive offensive change or continue to have a quarterback who takes rushing opportunities away. Herbert will look to earn a full bell-cow role in 2024.

DJ Moore Catches Four Passes To End Season

Chicago Bears wide receiver DJ Moore wrapped up the strongest season of his career in a mild manner in Week 18, catching four of six targets for 64 yards in the team's 17-9 loss to the Packers. The star receiver finished with a career-best in receiving yards (1300) and touchdowns (eight) while going over 100 yards in a game five times this season. The former Panther finished the season as the WR8 in PPR formats, averaging over 19 points per game when Justin Fields plays the whole game. In his first year with the team, Moore added exactly what this Bears' offense needed, and his skillset combined with Fields' ability to throw the deep ball has been a perfect match. He's talked about how much he loves playing with Fields, but it's uncertain who will be the quarterback for the Bears in 2024. Moore will look to build on a career year in 2023 next year with Chicago.

Gerald Everett Done For Week 18

Los Angeles Chargers tight end Gerald Everett (knee) has been downgraded to out for the remainder of Sunday's game against the Kansas City Chiefs. He initially exited the game during the first quarter. At the time of his departure, Everett had caught one pass for 14 yards. The 29-year-old has recently emerged as one of the Chargers' top weapons, commanding 33 targets over his last four games, so losing him will hurt Los Angeles. Donald Parham Jr. should step up as the top tight end for Los Angeles. Everett finishes 2023 having caught 51 passes for 411 yards and three touchdowns.
