Charlotte Hornets small forward Gordon Hayward (calf) has been listed as questionable for Wednesday's clash versus Toronto. Hornets head coach Steve Clifford mentioned at the start of the week that Hayward is close to returning to the lineup, and it looks like the former All-Star might indeed make his first appearance since Dec. 26. However, with him having been out for so long, it's unlikely Hayward will play his regular minutes. He's had 14.5 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 4.6 assists across 31.9 minutes this season.
Charlotte Hornets forward Gordon Hayward (calf) has been sidelined since December 26 and the team never gave an update on him after saying he would be re-evaluated near the end of January. Head coach Steve Clifford said Hayward is "pretty close to being able to come back," but didn't offer any firm timetable. His injury has been listed as a calf strain this whole time, but there hasn't been any official word from the team on the severity or the treatment plan. For now, fantasy managers will have to check back for any updates on Hayward throughout the week. There have been a few reports saying the Hornets are also exploring trade options with Hayward, so that will be another avenue to watch. In the meantime, Brandon Miller will continue seeing big minutes with the starting five.
Charlotte Hornets forward Gordon Hayward (calf) won't be available for Monday's meeting with the Los Angeles Lakers. Charlotte hasn't re-evaluated Hayward's strained left calf since mid-January, last reporting that he would miss another week on Jan. 17. While the 33-year-old former All-Star has an opportunity to return in Wednesday's game versus the Toronto Raptors, it appears unlikely he'll suit up for that one. Hayward could be on the trade block leading into Thursday's deadline. Brandon Miller, the NBA's Rookie of the Month for January, has gotten his chance to shine on the injury-plagued Hornets. Averaging 22.7 points, 4.6 rebounds, 3.1 treys on 40.3% shooting from long range, and 0.9 steals through his past 10 outings, Miller has bloomed into a must-start across all fantasy formats after putting up a career-high 35 points in Sunday's loss to the Indiana Pacers.
Charlotte Hornets forward Gordon Hayward (calf) remains out for Friday's contest against the Oklahoma City Thunder. A strained left calf has kept Hayward off the court since late December, and while his next chance to suit up will come on Sunday versus the visiting Indiana Pacers, he remains without a timetable for a return and should be considered out indefinitely until further notice. 2023 No. 2 overall pick Brandon Miller is helping fill Hayward's void by playing top-75 fantasy ball in nine-category leagues over his last eight games, averaging 20.5 points on 48.8% shooting from the field, 4.5 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 2.6 threes since Jan. 19. Though Friday's tilt against the Thunder carries significant blowout risk, Miller should be rostered and started in most season-long leagues while Hayward remains on the shelf.
Charlotte Hornets small forward Gordon Hayward (calf) will remain out on Wednesday against Detroit. Hayward resumed light on-court activities a week ago and appears to be nearing his return, but he will remain absent for a 14th consecutive game. With Terry Rozier now in Miami, Hayward should get more opportunities as a scorer when he's back. In the meantime, Brandon Miller will have a chance to continue his momentum on Wednesday, with Nick Smith Jr. possibly getting a larger role as well.
