In corresponding moves, right-hander Garrett Whitlock (elbow) was moved to the 60-day IL, infielder/outfielder Jamie Westbrook was selected from Triple-A Worcester and infielder/outfielder Bobby Dalbec was recalled from Worcester. Grissom suffered a mild hamstring strain on Saturday but will have to miss at least the next 10 days. Enmanuel Valdez is playing second and batting fifth on Sunday for Boston against Detroit Tigers right-hander Casey Mize, and he's the most likely to benefit from more playing time with Grissom out. Grissom got a late start to his first season in Boston due to injury and has gone just 12-for-81 (.148) with no homers or steals to this point.

Grissom has never faced Paddack in his career.
