Miami Marlins shortstop Tim Anderson (illness) is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Atlanta Braves. He also missed Friday's contest against the Braves and remains under the weather. The 30-year-old is considered day-to-day, with the series finale on Sunday being the next chance for him to return to the lineup. Anderson is slashing .280/.308/.300 with a double, two stolen bases, and four runs scored over 13 games this season. Vidal Brujan will replace Anderson again at shortstop and is batting ninth in Saturday's game. Brujan has not logged a hit over 16 plate appearances this season, and fantasy managers can avoid using him as a streamer in most leagues.
Miami Marlins shortstop Tim Anderson (illness) is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Atlanta Braves. According to Marlins manager Skip Schumaker, Anderson is sick, so it was better for him to take the day off. He is considered day-to-day. The 30-year-old has started all 13 games for the Marlins, slashing .280/.308/.300 with an RBI, four runs, and two stolen bases over 52 plate appearances. Vidal Brujan is batting ninth and will handle shortstop duties while Anderson is rested. Brujan has yet to record a hit in 13 plate appearances over seven games this season and can be avoided as a streamer and a DFS play for Friday's main slate.
Miami Marlins shortstop Tim Anderson hit his first home run of the spring in Monday's 1-0 Grapefruit League win over the Mets. Anderson hit a second-inning fastball from Tylor Megill over the right-field fence for the only run of the game. The 30-year-old is hitting .211 with no stolen bases in 19 spring at-bats. He will be looking to start anew with the Marlins, as injuries and poor performance stymied his fantasy value over the past several seasons with the White Sox.
Miami Marlins shortstop Tim Anderson, who signed a one-year, $5 million deal with the team this week, said his left knee is "healthy" and ready to go for the 2024 season. Anderson's left-knee sprain contributed heavily to his struggles in 2023, in which he hit just one home run while delivering a .582 OPS, the lowest among all qualified hitters. The 30-year-old hasn't played in more than 123 games in a season since 2019 due to injuries, which makes him a pretty big injury risk as he tries to bounce back from a dreadful season. His sprint speed, which has been well above-average for the bulk of his eight-year career, fell to the 46th percentile last year. But if the former first-rounder can regain even a fraction of his old form -- he was the only player in the majors to hit .300 or better in each season from 2019-22 -- fantasy managers will have a steal on their hands.
Free-agent shortstop Tim Anderson and the Miami Marlins agreed to a one-year, $5 million deal, pending a physical, on Thursday, according to sources. After a disastrous year with the Chicago White Sox in 2023, Anderson had to settle for a one-year, prove-it deal in order to try and get his value back up in South Beach. The hitting environment won't be the best for the 30-year-old in Miami, but he'll be guaranteed regular playing time as the Fish's primary shortstop. Anderson slashed a weak .245/.286/.296 with only one home run in 2023, but prior to that, he had posted a .318/.347/.474 slash line the previous four years in Chicago and could easily bounce back if he can stay healthy in 2024. The move to sign Anderson will move Jon Berti to a utility infield role in Miami.
