Oakland Athletics catcher Shea Langeliers hit his 17th home run on Saturday in a 19-8 victory over the Baltimore Orioles. Langeliers knocked in three runs on the day and also scored two runs. This marks two consecutive games in which the veteran catcher has homered. On the year, Langeliers is hitting .208 and has 17 home runs, 45 RBI, four stolen bases, and 31 runs scored. He should continue to get the bulk of the playing time behind the plate for the Oakland Athletics.
Oakland Athletics catcher Shea Langeliers went 2-for-4 with a go-ahead two-run home run in a 6-5 win over the Twins on Friday. The home run was his 14th of the season, tied with Adley Rutschman for the most amongst all backstops, and his three RBI gave him 39 on the year. The former first-round draft pick is coming off a season in which he blasted 22 home runs on the back of a 13.3% Barrel%, and is currently on pace to blow past that number with his 17.1% (97th percentile) Barrel%. The 26-year-old doesn't hit for average as his current .207 BA is actually better than his BA from a season ago (.205). For what it's worth, Langeliers is batting .276 over his last eight games, which for him would be considered a hot stretch.
Oakland Athletics catcher Shea Langeliers is out of the starting lineup ahead of Friday's game against the Atlanta Braves. Fantasy managers don't need to panic as this appears to be a routine rest day for Langeliers. In his absence, Kyle McCann will cover behind the plate and bat sixth versus right-hander Reynaldo Lopez. McCann has been solid with the bat during his time in Oakland but isn't a great streaming option for Friday's game.
Oakland Athletics first baseman Tyler Nevin and catcher Shea Langeliers are both getting a day off on Thursday in Houston against the Astros. Tyler Soderstrom will start at first base and bat cleanup, while Kyle McCann is doing the catching and will bat fifth against Astros right-hander Cristian Javier. Nevin had a nice little run in April but has gone 3-for-39 so far in the month of May, which has given Soderstrom more chances at first base. Soderstrom, meanwhile, has taken advantage by going 6-for-19 with a homer and three RBI in just six games played. This will be a regular off day for the 26-year-old Langeliers in a matinee affair. Langeliers has been much better in May, going 13-for-42 (.310) with three home runs and 11 RBI in 12 games to raise his season slash line to .218/.272/.496. McCann will be a DFS sleeper at catcher while he carries a .351 average (13-for-37) on the year with three home runs and eight RBI in just 15 games played.
Oakland Athletics catcher Shea Langeliers is on the bench Saturday night against the Seattle Mariners. Kyle McCann will get the start behind the plate and bat in the sixth spot. Langeliers it hitting .212 with nine home runs, 24 RBI, and 16 runs so far this year. This appears to be just a maintenance day off for Langeliers, who is hitting .333 with three home runs and 11 RBI in May thus far. Look for him to be back in the lineup for the series finale with the Mariners on Sunday afternoon.
