Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Ryan Brasier will serve as the opener for Game 2 of the National League Championship Series on Monday at Dodger Stadium against the New York Mets, with manager Dave Roberts saying he expects right-hander Landon Knack to take "most of the outs" as the bulk reliever. Brasier served as the opener in the Game 4 win over the division-rival San Diego Padres in the NL Division Series and threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings while striking out one. He also went 2 1/3 innings in a traditional relief role earlier in the series, allowing two earned runs on three hits while walking none and striking out one. Brasier obviously isn't a viable DFS play as an opener in Game 2. Knack pitched the final inning of the Game 4 win over the Pads and threw a scoreless frame with a strikeout. The 27-year-old went 3-5 with a 3.65 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, 69 K's and 18 walks in 69 innings over his first 15 big-league outings (12 starts) during the regular season.
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Landon Knack is set to be recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City to start Friday's game against the Cleveland Guardians. Knack is set to fill in for Clayton Kershaw (toe), who was placed on the 15-day IL on Saturday with a bone spur. Knack has held a solid 3.00 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, and a 12:44 BB:K ratio across 48 innings of work split between a starter and relief role in the majors this summer. At Triple-A, he posted a 3.71 ERA and 1.26 WHIP, with a 31:79 BB:K ratio in 68 innings. Knack is worth adding as a flier in deeper leagues as he may eventually earn a consistent spot in the starting rotation going forward. However, Yoshinobu Yamamoto is set to return on Tuesday, which may move Knack back to the bullpen or Triple-A.
Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said that right-handed pitching prospect Landon Knack will be called up from Triple-A Oklahoma City to make the start the first game of the Freeway Series at home against the Los Angeles Angels. Knack, who is the club's No. 12 prospect per MLB Pipeline, will be making just his fifth major-league start after debuting earlier this year. In his first four starts, the 26-year-old held his own with a 2.61 ERA, a 0.97 WHIP, 16 strikeouts and six walks in 20 2/3 innings pitched. Fantasy managers in redraft leagues may want to hold off spending too much waiver-wire money on him, though, as he could head back to the minors after Friday's start. However, the matchup at Dodger Stadium against the Halos may be too hard to pass up for DFS gamers given how well Knack has pitched so far in his rookie season.
The Los Angeles Dodgers optioned starting pitcher Landon Knack back to the minor leagues on Wednesday. Although the team called up right-hander J.P. Feyereisen in a corresponding transaction, the move likely signals that Walker Buehler's (elbow) next start is set to come with the major-league roster. Knack, LA's No. 13 prospect for 2024, showed plenty of promise during his first taste of big-league action, logging a 2.81 ERA and 1.00 WHIP, with 11 strikeouts over 16 innings (three starts). His 5.54 FIP probably means he was due for some regression at some point, though. The 26-year-old right-hander could be back with the Dodgers at some time later this summer if former top prospect Gavin Stone doesn't pick things up.
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Landon Knack earned his first career win on Wednesday in an 11-2 victory over the Nationals. The righty made his first career start against these same Nationals last week but came away with the loss despite pitching well. This time, the 26-year-old went six innings, allowing just three hits (one home run) while walking three batters and striking out five on his way to the win. With Walker Buehler nearing his return, however, Knack likely heads back to the minors. If these two starts were any indication though, he could be a viable DFS play or streaming option if he were recalled again, depending on the matchup.
