New York Yankees second base/third base prospect Jorbit Vivas is being promoted to the major league roster, according to Andy Martino of SNY. In a corresponding move, J.D. Davis will be placed on the injured list with an undisclosed injury. Vivas has performed very well in his second look at Triple-A ball this season. Through 37 total games, the 23-year-old has posted a solid .258/.404/.424 line with five home runs, eight stolen bases, and 19 RBI. However, in his past 13 games, the infielder has been swinging a hot bat with an eye-catching .375/.474/.646 slash line. Vivas is ranked as the 15th-best prospect in the Yankee system on MLB Pipeline. He is worth adding in deeper leagues for now and could become a must-add in all leagues if he can carve out a full-time playing role. With Gleyber Torres and DJ LeMahieu struggling to find consistency at the plate, Vivas may claim one of these positions fairly quickly.UPDATE: Davis was put on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to July 9) with the stomach flu.
New York Yankees infield prospect Jorbit Vivas went 3-for-4 on Thursday evening with two singles and a home run to extend his current hitting streak to five games. During this stretch, Vivas has tallied at least two hits three times and launched two long balls. This is the 23-year-old first extended look at Triple-A, as he logged only 26 games at this level at the end of last summer. This season, he holds a solid .253/.400/.389 line with a 21:24 BB:K ratio compared to last summer, where he posted a .225/.339/.294 line with a 15:19 BB:K ratio. In addition, Vivas began the season on a cold stretch through April which has slightly negatively affected his ratios. Vivas has a strong chance to reach the major leagues in the second half of the season and could be worth a speculative add in AL-only formats when given the call.
