New York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo (ribs) hit a walk-off two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth against the Atlanta Braves to give the Mets a 4-3 win. Nimmo, who was sitting out on Sunday due to intercostal irritation, came in as a defensive sub in the eighth inning and stayed in to hit in the ninth. The veteran lefty said in an interview earlier in the game that he would be good to go Monday, but apparently he was already feeling well enough to make a major impact on this game. Nimmo should be started in weekly leagues next week barring any news of a setback.
New York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo (ribs) is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's showdown against the Atlanta Braves. Nimmo left Saturday's game early after experiencing intercostal irritation after a check swing. It is unclear whether Nimmo will be able to return to the lineup on Monday. DJ Stewart would be the biggest beneficiary if Nimmo continues to miss time. Stewart is starting in left field and batting leadoff on Sunday, but his .185/.372/.415 slash line leaves a lot to be desired.
The New York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo (intercostal) was removed from the Saturday afternoon tilt with the Atlanta Braves with intercostal irritation. Nimmo appeared to hurt his side on a check swing. Nimmo was able to complete the at-bat but left the game the next half-inning. The team is calling it an irritation, but it feels safe to assume he will have some testing on it this weekend. Nimmo was hitting .300 with two home runs and seven RBI in 37 May plate appearances. Should Nimmo miss time, reserve outfielders Tyrone Taylor and DJ Stewart should see more opportunities for at-bats.
New York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo had a nice day at the plate in Monday's 4-3 win over the Cardinals. Nimmo went 2-for-5 with a single, a solo home run, and a strikeout. The 31-year-old has been underwhelming offensively to start the season, slashing .228/.376/.394with four HR, 19 runs scored, 22 RBI, and two stolen bases in 157 plate appearances. He has a history of being a solid fantasy contributor, so fantasy managers may want to stick with him for now except perhaps in shallow leagues.
New York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo (rest) is out of the starting lineup ahead of Wednesday's game against the Chicago Cubs. This appears to be a routine rest day for Nimmo against a left-handed starting pitcher. The Mets will play matchups here and start Tyrone Taylor, Starling Marte, and Harrison Bader versus lefty Shota Imanaga. Fantasy managers will need to adjust their lineups accordingly.
