Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said that relievers Blake Treinen (shoulder), Daniel Hudson (knee) and J.P. Feyereisen (shoulder) are all tracking to be on the active roster to kick off the season in a two-game series against the division-rival San Diego Padres in Korea. Roberts said Hudson is still working through some execution stuff after missing close to two seasons due to injuries. The 36-year-old Hudson made just three appearances in 2023 and will give them veteran depth in the bullpen, but he's not on the fantasy radar. Neither is Treinen, 35, who made five appearances in 2022 and three rehab outings in 2023 after having shoulder surgery. He's going to need to prove himself before he's given a high-leverage role in the 'pen again.
Los Angeles Dodgers right-handed reliever Blake Treinen (shoulder), who has been limited to just five appearances in the last two years due to shoulder issues, said he expects to have a "normal" spring training. General manager Brandon Gomes said earlier this month that Treinen is trending toward a return this year, so as long as the 35-year-old high-leverage reliever doesn't have a setback with his shoulder in spring training, he should be ready for the start of the regular season. He had surgery in November of 2022 and missed all of the 2023 season, so the Dodgers will likely be cautious with his workload, at least early on in 2024. Treinen has nine years of major-league experience with 79 career saves under his belt, but he'll be an injury risk in deep holds leagues this season.
Los Angeles Dodgers relief pitcher Blake Treinen (right shoulder) is "trending toward a return," according to Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times. Injuries have been quite the obstacle for Treinen, who has pitched just five innings over the last two seasons, but it appears that he's ready to be a contributor out of the bullpen once again. The Dodgers would be thrilled to get the pre-injury version of Treinen this year. Through 72 appearances in 2021, he maintained a 1.99 ERA, 10.58 K/9, and 3.11 BB/9 while securing 32 holds and seven saves.
