Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Tyler Johnson caught three of his four targets for 20 yards in the Week 3 victory over the 49ers. The 26-year-old logged 29 offensive snaps on the day, with Demarcus Robinson and Tutu Atwell getting more work. However, he couldn't get anything going. While Puka Nacua (knee) and Cooper Kupp (ankle) will remain out in Week 4 versus the Chicago Bears, Johnson shouldn't be anywhere near a fantasy lineup.
Coming off a disappointing performance at Arizona in Week 2, Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Tyler Johnson is a decent bet to bounce back in Week 3 against the San Francisco 49ers. A popular waiver-wire target after a breakout Week 1 performance at Detroit, Johnson produced a dud in Week 2. But it was largely a game to forget for the Rams as a team. With more time to game plan knowing coming into the game that Puka Nacua (knee) and Cooper Kupp (ankle) are out, expect Sean McVay and his staff to find ways to get Johnson the ball in this one. The Minnesota product has shown the ability to make big plays and he is one of the main healthy threats at the position now for the Rams. Through two games this season, the 49ers have given up the fourth-most fantasy points to receivers. With many fantasy managers moving off of Johnson after last week, he is a sneaky flex play in deep leagues this week.
Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Tyler Johnson was a popular waiver-wire addition headed into Week 2 but did little to reward fantasy managers who took a shot on him this week. Johnson was not involved in the team's 41-10 loss at Arizona on Sunday. The Minnesota Golden Gophers product was targeted just three times, hauling in two passes for 20 yards. The Rams' offense was a disaster in this one and Cooper Kupp (ankle) was forced out of the game early. Despite Kupp's absence Johnson did little of note as the ball was spread around and Matthew Stafford struggled to get anything going downfield. The team will need to regroup after this rough road contest and Johnson could still have a role with all the injuries in the Rams' receiver room. He still will have to compete with Demarcus Robinson, Tutu Atwell, and Jordan Whittington for targets, however.
Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Tyler Johnson has been a popular waiver-wire pickup this week after news that Puka Nacua (knee) has landed on the IR. Opportunity knocks for the former Minnesota Golden Gopher. He will compete for targets with Demarcus Robinson and Tutu Atwell opposite Cooper Kupp, but Johnson flashed his big-play ability in Week 1 after Nacua exited. Quarterback Matthew Stafford and the Rams will need to establish another threat outside of Kupp and Johnson could be that guy. The former Tampa Bay Buccaneer is looking like a potential sleeper this week. Johnson probably doesn't profile as a WR3 in fantasy this week, but in deeper leagues, he could be used as a viable flex option.
Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Tyler Johnson took advantage of Puka Nacua (knee) leaving the game early with some big catches against the Lions on Sunday night. Johnson caught five of his seven targets for 79 yards, including a 63-yard catch and run when he stopped on a dime and turned a short pass into a long gain. The Minnesota Golden Gophers product stepped into the void opposite star receiver Cooper Kupp when Nacua left the contest. With Nacua set to undergo testing Monday on his right knee, Johnson could be a popular waiver-wire addition should Nacua be forced to miss any time. Demarcus Robinson also saw seven targets in the game but Johnson looked like the greater big-play threat.
