Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has had moments as a top fantasy quarterback this season, but also as one of the worst. All year long, he's been an all-or-nothing fantasy piece and since Week 14 he's posted QB2-type numbers. In their final two games, the offense scored a combined 33 points compared to allowing 77. To make matters even worse, the forecast calls for bitter cold that will make it one of NFL history's coldest games of all time. In the last 10 games, dating back to 2017, when the kickoff temperature was 40 degrees or colder, the Dolphins are 0-10. While Tagovailoa does have the potential to pop off given his threats at wide receiver, this cold-weather game doesn't seem to play in his favor.
Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa finished out the regular season in disappointing fashion as he posted his fifth QB2 performance in a row on Sunday night. He finished the game against the Buffalo Bills with 173 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions while completing 17 of his 27 pass attempts. With Jaylen Waddle (ankle) missing this game, Tagovailoa targeted Tyreek Hill 13 times and didn't look another pass-catcher's way more than three times. So, it allowed the Bills to focus on one side of the field and it forced Tagovailoa into a couple of turnovers. With that being said, he did finish in QB1 territory for the season, but he didn't do much to increase his draft stock in fantasy drafts next season.
Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has been through the wringer over the last three weeks as he took on top defenses in the Jets, Cowboys, and Ravens. He wasn't able to tough out a QB1 performance in any of those matchups. As a matter of fact, he hasn't finished in QB1 territory since Week 13 against the Washington Commanders. In Week 18, the Dolphins need a win over the Buffalo Bills to finish as the second seed in the AFC. The issue is that the Bills rank seventh against the passing game. On top of that, the risk with playing Tagovailoa in the final week is that he's been all-or-nothing all year long. He could be QB1 or low-end QB2, so his inconsistency could make him a scary fantasy play in leagues or DFS.
The Miami Dolphins don't seem too worried about quarterback Tua Tagovailoa's shoulder injury. "I'm not really worried about it. Just where he is in the season, how crazy competitive he is, it's not a real big blip on my radar right now," head coach Mike McDaniel said. Tagovailoa injured his left shoulder late in Sunday's blowout loss to the Baltimore Ravens and was a little sore on Monday, but the 25-year-old should be available to face the Buffalo Bills on Sunday night in Week 18 in a contest that will decide the winner of the AFC East. He'll be looking for a bounce-back performance after throwing for 237 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions in the Week 17 loss. However, he could be without wideout Jaylen Waddle (ankle) for another game. With several prominent QBs potentially being rested in the final week of the regular season, Tagovailoa will firmly be on the QB1 map against Buffalo in Miami.
