Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Payne Durham caught five of his seven targets for 29 yards during Sunday's Week 16 loss to the Dallas Cowboys. The 24-year-old has primarily operated in a depth role for most of this season, but he was given increased opportunities to produce this week with Cade Otton (knee) sidelined. A product of Purdue, Durham more than doubled his season-long production on Sunday night alone, but he'll likely return to a depth role off the fantasy radar if Otton returns in Week 17 against the Carolina Panthers.

The 24-year-old hasn't done much this season, but he could be asked to start this weekend with fellow tight end Cade Otton (knee) listed as doubtful for Sunday. Durham has hauled in both his targets for 34 yards this season, so his sample size is extremely small. The absence of Otton will likely just lead to more targets for wide receivers Mike Evans, Jalen McMillan, and possibly Sterling Shepard. Fantasy managers shouldn't risk starting Durham in an important fantasy playoff week.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Payne Durham (knee) suffered a knee injury during the Buccaneers' joint practice with the Jaguars on Wednesday. According to Buccaneers insider JC Allen, Durham's MRI results were negative, and he is not expected to miss much time. Durham was a fifth-round pick in the 2023 NFL draft and appeared in 13 games during his rookie season, recording five catches for 58 yards. He played in Tampa Bay's preseason opener against the Cincinnati Bengals on Aug. 10, where he had two receptions for 27 yards. The Buccaneers won the game 17-14. If Durham cannot participate in the next preseason game, Ko Kieft and Devin Culp will have the opportunity for more reps to compete for the third tight end spot on the 53-man roster behind Cade Otton and Durham.UPDATE: Head coach Todd Bowles said Durham is day-to-day.
