Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said that running back Keaton Mitchell's role in the offense could expand moving forward. "I do see a little bit of a three-headed monster there," Harbaugh said of the team's backfield that also includes the NFL's leading rusher in Derrick Henry and pass-catching specialist Justice Hill. Mitchell finally recovered from a torn ACL that he suffered in his rookie season in 2023 to make his season debut in last Thursday night's one-point win over the division-rival Cincinnati Bengals, but the 22-year-old wasn't involved much, seeing two snaps on offense. He averaged 8.4 yards per carry and 10.3 yards per catch in eight games last year and has enough explosive abilities as a ball-carrier to warrant a bench stash in fantasy leagues down the stretch, especially if you also have Henry rostered.

Fantasy managers in deeper formats should look to stash Mitchell for the time being as even though he has big-play ability, he will face a limited workload early on as he is eased into action. Down the stretch, he could eventually earn a decent role in the Baltimore offense playing behind Derrick Henry.

NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reports that there is optimism that Baltimore Ravens running back Keaton Mitchell (knee) will be active for Thursday night against the division-rival Cincinnati Bengals to kick off Week 10 action. Head coach John Harbaugh said earlier this week there was a chance Mitchell would be activated from the Physically Unable to Perform list to make his 2024 debut on Thursday, and it looks like it's going to happen after he put in three full practices from Monday through Wednesday. The explosive second-year back won't be recommended for starting fantasy lineups in his first game back, but don't forget that he averaged 8.4 yards per carry and also 10.3 yards per reception in his first eight games in 2023 before tearing his ACL. Mitchell's impending return is bad news for Justice Hill, but Derrick Henry will remain Baltimore's unquestioned lead back.

Mitchell has been working through a knee injury, and if he's active, it will be for the first time this season. Ali has been dealing with an injury of his own that's kept him out of Baltimore's prior three contests. It would be fantastic if the duo could return to full health, but with teammates Derrick, Henry, and Justice Hill in clear, defined roles in the Ravens' offense, there aren't many excess touches to go around. Neither Mitchell nor Ali will be recommended fantasy options if they're active for the Week 10 outing.

He showed explosive ability out of Baltimore's backfield in his rookie campaign before his injury in 2023, but Mitchell will most likely be eased in behind Derrick Henry and alongside Justice Hill against Cincy if he's active. Mitchell deserves to be stashed in fantasy leagues for his upside as Baltimore's RB2 the rest of the season.
