Seattle Mariners outfielder/first baseman/designated hitter Luke Raley and infielder Josh Rojas are both starting the game on the bench for Wednesday's series finale at Minute Maid Park against the division-rival Houston Astros with a left-hander on the mound. Justin Turner is making the start at first base and is batting fifth, while Dylan Moore will man the hot corner and bat out of the nine-hole against Astros left-hander Yusei Kikuchi. Turner has an RBI and is hitting .273 in 11 career at-bats against Kikuchi, while Moore has gone hitless against the southpaw in five career at-bats. Raley has reached the 20-homer mark for the first time in his career in 2024, but he's also hitting just .192 (14-for-73) with just two of his 21 long balls against lefties. Rojas has been even worse against lefties, going 8-for-58 (.138) with none of his eight home runs on the year.
Seattle Mariners outfielder Luke Raley had his power stroke working on Thursday, going 3-for-5 with two doubles and a homer in a 6-4 win over the Oakland Athletics. Raley added two RBI and a run scored to round out his line. The 29-year-old hasn't been quite as good as he was last year for Tampa Bay, but since the start of August he has looked terrific, smashing seven homers and batting .283 with an OPS over 1.000. He can be a solid streaming option in fantasy and even a starter in deeper leagues when he's on.
Seattle Mariners outfielder Luke Raley is out of the starting lineup ahead of Tuesday's game against the Tampa Bay Rays. Fantasy managers don't need to worry as his absence doesn't appear to be injury related. Raley missed a game over the weekend due to an illness, but he appears to be fine now. He'll take a seat against a tough lefty Jeffrey Springs. Justin Turner will cover first base and bat sixth during Tuesday's game. The 39-year-old has seen a regression at the plate during the 2024 season. Turner is hitting a lackluster .214 with one home run and 10 RBI in 21 games with the Mariners. The veteran slugger can be avoided in most fantasy formats.
Seattle Mariners outfielder/first baseman Luke Raley (illness) is back in the starting lineup ahead of Monday's game against the Tampa Bay Rays. This is good news after Raley was scratched from Sunday's contest due to flu-like symptoms. It must've been a minor issue as Raley is in the leadoff spot and covering first base against right-hander Ryan Pepiot on Monday. Raley has been a viable option at the plate against right-handed pitching. He's hitting .247 with 14 home runs and 38 RBI this season. He should be worth a look as a streaming option for Monday's slate.
Seattle Mariners outfielder Luke Raley blasted his 12th home run of the 2024 campaign in Friday's 10-2 win over the Phillies, a three-run shot off starter Tyler Phillips in the second inning. That would end up being his only hit of the game, however, going 1-for-4 on the night. Raley's batting average was as high as .263 on June 23, but since then he's gone 14-for-91 (.154), bringing his season average down to .228. With a 31.4% K%, he may not be able to turn it around, but with 12 home runs and nine stolen bases, he may still be useful for fantasy in some deeper leagues, as he's also eligible at both 1B and OF. The 29-year-old finished last season with 19 home runs and 14 stolen bases in 118 games and looks to be on pace for that again this season.
