Oakland Athletics starting pitcher Osvaldo Bido will rejoin the starting rotation on Tuesday against the Houston Astros. Bido was skipped on Saturday, potentially to reduce his workload as he is nearing his total from last year. This is an important move for fantasy, as Bido becomes a two-start pitcher this week (as long as the A's don't skip his next start as well) with the second matchup being against the lowly White Sox. He is a solid option in standard-size leagues, especially points leagues. Also noteworthy is that JP Sears is no longer a two-start pitcher and will lose the juicy White Sox matchup.
Oakland Athletics starting pitcher JP Sears (9-8) recorded his ninth win and logged a quality start while allowing one run on three hits with one walk and five strikeouts in a 4-1 win against the Chicago White Sox on Monday. Sears' 4.35 ERA is nothing to write home about, but with the A's offense significantly improving from last season, the run support has been much better than last year at the Coliseum. The 28-year-old is sizzling this summer with a 3.07 ERA in July and is off to a great start in August after handing the White Sox their 21st straight loss. His next start won't be easy, as the A's head across the Northern border to face the Toronto Blue Jays this weekend.
Oakland Athletics starting pitcher JP Sears delivered an outstanding start at Fenway Park against the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday, producing eight strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings of work. Sears got his sixth win of the campaign on Wednesday, yielding a lone run on four hits and two walks. The 28-year-old left-hander is merely a streaming option under favorable circumstances from a fantasy perspective, registering a 4.56 ERA and 1.26 WHIP to go along with 76 strikeouts and 32 walks through 19 starts (100 2/3 innings) during his second full season with the A's.
Oakland Athletics starting pitcher JP Sears put together a much-needed strong start on Thursday versus the Los Angeles Angels. Sears had an awful month of June with a 7.94 ERA, but his July started on a much higher note with five shutout innings. Over that span, Sears allowed two hits, one walk and recorded six strikeouts. It was one of the best starts of the season for the left-hander and this can hopefully get his season back on track. Despite the strong effort, Sears has had plenty of blow up performances and is not likely to rack up many victories on a bad Athletics team. Outside of the most favorable streaming matchups, Sears can be avoided. Next up for the lefty will be a date with the Boston Red Sox on the road.
Oakland Athletics left-hander JP Sears allowed one hit across 6 1/3 scoreless innings during Thursday's 1-0 victory over the Texas Rangers. He struck out five batters while issuing three walks en route to his first win of the season. It was a nice bounce-back performance for the 28-year-old after a pair of inefficient outings to kick off 2024. Sears shows glimpses of fantasy viability every so often, but his inconsistency makes him nothing more than a streaming option in 2024. He is a risky play in his next projected start on Tuesday against the St. Louis Cardinals.
