Arizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Brandon Pfaadt turned in one of his best outings of the year on Thursday, limiting the Milwaukee Brewers to one run over seven innings. Pfaadt struck out 12, walked none, and allowed just two hits. His dominance in this one came out of nowhere, as he had allowed at least three earned runs in his last six starts and was just destroyed by the Brewers last Saturday, where he allowed eight runs in just 1 IP. If any fantasy managers did have them in their lineups for some reason, it turned out to be a great decision. Unfortunately, it is unlikely that many did. The 25-year-old lines up for one last start next week against the San Francisco Giants. Fantasy managers should be wary of this one good start, but consider Pfaadt as a high-risk option next week.
Arizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Brandon Pfaadt made plenty of bats miss during Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers. The right-hander recorded 10 strikeouts over 5 2/3 innings of work while allowing three runs in the blowout win. Pfaadt gave up eight hits during this outing, but he did a nice job of limiting the damage. It hasn't been a great year for Pfaadt, but he has been a nice source of strikeouts. He'll carry a 4.32 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, and a 155/34 K/BB ratio into his next start against the Houston Astros. The high strikeout rate gives Pfaadt value despite it being a tough matchup.
Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Brandon Pfaadt tied his career-best with 11 strikeouts during Monday's 5-4 win over the Colorado Rockies. Pfaadt allowed four runs on eight hits and did not walk a batter over seven innings, improving his record to 7-6. He has won four straight decisions and has not recorded a loss since a 3-1 setback at the Washington Nationals on June 19. Pfaadt has a 3.98 ERA and a 1.11 WHIP with 135 strikeouts and 29 walks over 144 2/3 innings. Fantasy managers get another opportunity to see the workhorse (seventh in innings pitched) in action when he pitches at the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday.
Arizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Brandon Pfaadt put together a strong performance in Thursday's 1-0 victory versus the Atlanta Braves. Earning his 10th quality start of the season, the right-hander tossed six frames and allowed three hits, zero runs, zero walks and sent four batters back to the dugout via the strikeout. Pfaadt was hit hard in April to open the season, but it has been smooth sailing for the most part since. In 19 starts, Pfaadt is 4-6 with a 3.97 ERA and 104 strikeouts in 113 1/3 innings. Although he hasn't racked up many victories, he does enough across the board to justify being rostered in mixed leagues moving forward.
Arizona Diamondbacks right-hander Brandon Pfaadt (ankle) has been cleared to start in Thursday's series finale against the visiting Atlanta Braves, according to manager Torey Lovullo. Pfaadt left his last start early on Saturday against the San Diego Padres after he was hit on the left ankle by a line drive, but X-rays came back negative, and he won't miss a turn through Arizona's starting rotation. The 25-year-old shouldn't face any pitch-count restrictions on Thursday. In his first meeting against Atlanta on April 6 in his second start of the year, Pfaadt allowed five earned runs in 5 2/3 innings in a no-decision, but he'll be facing a much weaker Braves offense on Thursday in Arizona. In his last two starts, Pfaadt has given up just two earned runs with two walks and 14 strikeouts in 10 1/3 innings pitched to lower his season ERA to 4.19 and WHIP to 1.19.
